Self Defence Day On Wednesday, FV and FVI learned all about self defence, how to use public transport safely, how to safely use our mobile phone outside, how to go online safely and what to do if we are made to feel uncomfortable while out without an adult. Many thanks to PC An-gie Gayle, PC Kerry Grover and PCSO Laura Jagoe to talking us through these safety measures and to Keron, Sophie and Tony from Fighting Fit who taught us some useful moves. Now we know how to ward off an attacker and we are fully equipped to deal with any situation — thank you Mrs Mannooch for organising such a useful and informative day.

‘I enjoyed self defence because I learned things I did not know before and I could have been stuck in a ter-rible situation, not knowing what to do. ’ Matilda FVI. ‘I’m now more confident to walk to school on

my own because I know what to do in any situation to protect myself. ‘ Sequoia, FVI

‘I liked self defence because it helps people to be more confident when they are alone.’ Zerlin FVI

‘It was amazing fun and I learned how to ‘SMOOSH’ people and protect myself. I feel confident in the streets now and I think I qualify for a ninja warrior!’ Ramya, FVI

‘I really enjoyed learning different techniques in martial arts. ’ Kami, FVI

The Hossenbux Family Trip to Marrakech

On Sunday 7th April, I will be travelling to Marrakech as part of the ‘Original Volunteers’ Company. The project involves organising and helping out in an orphanage as well as helping with a project involving street children. I will also have the opportunity to visit a baby orphanage where there are not enough staff to be able to provide essential physical contact that babies require in the first few months of life.

I wanted to take this opportunity to say a huge Thank You to all those who bought a copy of the Seaton House Recipe book. All the profit made from the sale of the books has gone towards buying the items in the photos, plus lots more, including nappies, sports equipment, board games, face paints and play dough. Thank you also to those parents who have donated baby clothes and donated money to buy things for the children in the orphanage. I am sure it will be a memorable experience and will look forward to telling the girls all about it on my return after the Easter holidays.

Mrs Hossenbux

……………….Mrs Bolton, Office Manager, who is leaving Seaton House after fourteen years’ dedicated service. Goodbye Mrs Bolton, we will miss you. Come back to visit us any time.

On Thursday 11th April, wedding bells will be ringing for Mrs Blaney and Mr Hill.

Congratulations to you both. Everyone at Seaton House sends you their very

best wishes.

Girls, remember that after Easter, Mrs Blaney will be known as Mrs Hill.

Quote of the Week by Amelie, Form III

POSH NEWS

As another term draws to a close, we would like to thank everyone who has helped at any of our events over the past three months. From serving refreshments at assemblies and the Spring Concert to buying and wrapping gifts for the Mother’s Day sale and Easter Raffle we couldn’t do it without you all.

Our recent Mother’s Day Gift Sales raised approximately £200. As expected, both sales were very busy and having sold out after the first sale, we had to replenish our supplies. The girls really enjoy choosing their own gifts for their Mums – we hope all you Mums were delighted with your gifts.

As well as the additional 10 ipads which POSH purchased at the start of the year, this term POSH has funded the Easter Egg Hunt for Early Years and Self Defence/Stranger Danger workshop for forms FV & FVI. We have also purchased some outdoor mats so that the children can enjoy picnics on the field in the summer term.

We are thrilled that our POSH meetings have been well and enthusiastically attended recently particularly by parents of children in the lower years and that we have been able to recruit some new members to the committee in posts that will soon become vacant. You are the future of POSH so it is great to have you on board while there is time for us to hand over properly. Our next meeting is on the morning of Friday 26th April – we start at 9am and Mrs Morrison joins us after assembly. All are welcome..

The summer term is particularly busy with a Disco, Quiz Night and of course our annual Summer Fete to arrange. If you would like to be more involved in the organising of these events please get in touch with your form rep.

Finally Form VI have been selling tickets to F1 – F6 for the POSH Easter Raffle all this week. A huge thank you to Olivia Sims and Lisa Bradford who organise these raffles – the girls love them and it is a wonderful high to finish the term on. We hope all the winners enjoy their prizes.
