Dear Parents

This has been an incredibly busy week for our girls. Despite ongoing technical issues, we have carried on in true Seaton House style, sitting exams and attending our lessons as normal. We have enjoyed being outside in this unprecedented Autumn sunshine and having our minds boggled by the wonderful Maths Magicians who came in yesterday for Maths Enrichment Day. Our FVI girls enjoyed a visit to the superb Royal School of Needlework and are preparing for their Road Cycling Course next week. We have our onesies and popcorn ready and are looking forward to tonight’s Movie Night. Have a lovely, peaceful weekend.

A report by Dila Seshadri, FVI On Wednesday 10th October, Form VI went for the first time to the Royal School of Needlework Animals in Embroidery Exhibition at Hampton Court Palace. I personally

thought it was great, as it was fascinating to see all the amazing embroidered art with such detail at arm’s length. Even though we did not have time to look at the spectacular

pieces of art, we did have an amazing experience of making giant buttons of either a spider, a bee, a ladybird or a bat, stitching colourful threads into linen. It was a very

memorable experience as the people working there were very kind and loved being asked questions all the time. All together, I believe Seaton House should send more Forms as it

was a very educational trip and a lovely place to go.

On Thursday 11th October, the whole school enjoyed a very entertaining Maths Enrichment Day. A Mathsmagician came in and showed us some wonderful tricks which amazed us so much! This was followed by a professor all the way from Cambridge University, who challenged us to make seemingly impossible 3D shapes which left us baffled for hours! We were also put together with our House to solve very fun and puzzling maths problems and mysteries, followed by making our own mathematical board games. To end a spectacular day, we were given maths stickers and pencils to take home!

This was definitely the best Maths Enrichment day ever and I hope we do it again soon!

Girls — please remember to bring in your favourite family recipes for Mrs Hossenbux. They must be in by half term as they are going to be turned into a book of delicious Seaton House Recipes which will make excellent Christmas presents for friends and family. The money raised by the sale of the books will be used to buy desperately needed toys, games and equipment for an orphanage in Marrakech. Mrs Hossenbux and her family will be travelling to Marrakech next April to deliver the equipment and to help care for the children and babies who live in the orphanage. Let’s all do what we can to help — all recipes welcome!

Last week Mr and Mrs Simpson took delivery of this lovely little bundle of cuddles and happiness! Her name is Poppy and Mrs Simpson is delighted to report that she is settling in well and is already a much loved member of the family. ‘We love her’ said Mrs Simpson. ‘She’s adorable! We can’t remember what we talked about before she came!’

Girls, if you would like your pet to feature in our weekly Newsletter, please send a photo to Mrs Stubley at: [email protected].

Christmas is coming There, I’ve said it! But it will come as no surprise to the POSH elves who have been busy already planning our festive events. Back by popular demand is our Christmas card project. Over the past week children have been creating some beautiful festive artwork which will be available to order (after the half term) as printed cards, papers and gifts. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a Party. In place of the usual Christmas Bazaar we have decided this year to hold a Christmas party. There will be music & games as well as the ever-

popular raffle and secret Santa gift room and of course a special visitor will be making an appearance. We are hoping to combine this with a Shopping Event so that while the children party parents will have the opportunity to buy some fabulous gifts. So, put Fri 30th November in your diaries and keep an eye out for more info after half term
