INTRODUCTION

This report summarizes staff publications in 1988 and 1989. Publications foreach year are listed in two categories. "Reviewed publications" are reviewed byworld authorities on the relevant topic and are published in recognizedscientific journals. "Other publications" usually receive peer review but arenot published in the scientific literature. All publications are available fromthe authors. Please consult the list of scientific staff included in this

publication for the locations and mailing address of the authors.

Headquarters for Biological Sciences Branch is the Pacific Biological station inNanaimo. Other facilities operated by the Branch include the West VancouverLaboratory, the Cultus Lake Laboratory and the Rosewall Creek ExperimentalHatchery. Staff are also located on the waterfront in Vancouver and PrinceRupert, at the Institute of Ocean Sciences in Sidney, and at Regional DFOHeadquarters in Vancouver*
