The Connecting through the Arts (CTTA) program is a great strategic fit for the
RCM by reinforcing its desire to foster positive social outcomes, deliver high
standards in music education, and leverage RCM’s world class content while
targeting a new, untapped customer segment of Canadian seniors living in
retirement/assisted living homes. The CTTA program is designed to reconnect
seniors to music and the arts through a tailored program customized to their
abilities and interests, supplemented by creation of musical instruments adapted
for easy use by seniors. The program can be delivered in person by trained RCM
program facilitators in seniors’ residences, or through the hundreds of activity
coordinators that are responsible for providing interesting programs to seniors in
their care, by providing them unparalleled on-line access to RCM content. By
creating an online portal with tailored programming based on existing RCM
content that can be utilized by those working with seniors and seniors themselves,
the CTTA will be extremely scalable and has the potential to reach the hundreds
of thousands of seniors living across 950 retirement homes in Canada. The
program will provide RCM with strategic value of new sustainable sources of
revenue, the seniors with enriched retirement life and connection to the RCM
community, and other stakeholders such as activity coordinators and musical
therapists the content and network support they need to better fulfill their
responsibilities and advance their career.
