Presidential Election In General Elections ballots are not party specific. Voters are issued precinct-specific ballots according to state house and senate lines, local contests such as Community Development District races, and all candidates elected at large.

Where Do I Vote on Election Day? NOVEMBER 8th, 2016

Know your polling location in advance. This information was provided to you on your voter information card, but it is also available at http://www.pascovotes.com/Precincts-Districts/Precinct-Finder or by calling 800-851-8754.

Due to legislative redistricting it was necessary to make some adjustments to precincts. As a result, some polling locations changed. All affected voters with up-to-date addresses on file were notified.

What Else Should I know?

Review your sample ballot before voting.

Early voting in Florida is allowed until November 5th at select sites.

Take your photo and signature ID or you will be statutorily required to vote a provisional ballot. Your FL driver license or FL ID card meet this requirement, but there are other acceptable forms of identification. See pascovotes.com for a list of these.

HOA Annual Election

Fairway Oaks HOA Board of Directors’ Annual Election will be held during the December 13th HOA monthly meeting. All Board members are a non-salaried, voluntary position for individuals wanting to make a difference and improve the quality of life here in Fairway Oaks.

Anyone interested in running for a position on the Board should submit their name, contact information and brief biography to Mary Ann Myszkowiak of Coastal Management at 727- 859-9734. Ballots of proposed candidates will be distributed at the November HOA meeting.

Home owners, businesses and individuals can now promote their businesses, special events or hobbies on our new web page for a nominal fee. Advertisers are receiving a 12-month annual ad for one low, low cost!

Each ad costs an initial set up fee of $20 for a standard size ad 2 ½” by 3” or pixels of 450 x 258 with lines of text and graphic. Your own business card may be scanned and enlarged to fit this size and format easily. Advertising fees are set at $25 per year for a Fairway Oaks homeowner and $50 per year for a non-homeowner or business. Veterans’ Day – November 11th

Honor our Military

On November 11th at 11:00am, the Knights of Columbus will honor the bravery and sacrifices of our nation’s veterans at St. Michael the Archangel Church. The ceremony will include a prayer service and the Pledge of Allegiance. The color guard will fly the flag and observe a moment of silence.

The West Pasco Chamber of Commerce is proud to once again present their annual WPCC General Membership Luncheon Saluting Veterans on Monday, November 7, 2016. The event will take place from 11:30am to 1pm at the Knights of Columbus, 5850 K of C Drive, Port Richey.

Emcee: Shawn Foster and Guest Speaker: Veterans Alternative

Tickets are $10 per person. There is no charge for Veterans.

Happy Birthday Marine Corps! Celebrate on Saturday, November 12th, the birth of the Continental Marines established in 1775.

The Marine Corp League of Holiday will hold its Veteran’s Day Nov. 11th ceremony at 11:30 am. The Marine Detachment #567 is located at 7241 Baillie Drive in New Port Richey, FL.

Join the Corp members on the first Friday of every month from 5:00-6:30pm for an All You Can Eat Fish Dinner at the League club house. The cost is $7 for a full dinner and is open to the public.

Bingo! Come play Bingo each Wednesday from 1:00 – 4:00pm at the Marine Corp League clubhouse. Bingo package cost is $12.

Fairway Oaks Community Yard Sale

November 12th from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Now is the perfect time to clean out that garage or closet and get rid of unwanted items. This year, the Fairway Oaks Board will provide all advertising for the sale FREE of charge to residents. We hope everyone will help support and participate in this community event.

Some tips: Pasco County Code Enforcement requires all signs to be placed only on Private Property. The HOA will place signs at both entrances to Fairway Oaks. Be prepared for early shoppers. Have enough change on hand. To attract shoppers to your house, have a lot of stuff in your driveway or perhaps combine your items with a neighbor.

Salvation Army will be available for donation pickups in Fairway Oaks following the end of the yard sale on Saturday between 3:00-4:00pm. Their truck will be stationed near the entrance to Fairway Oaks for drop offs. Call Denise DuPont for details or questions.

CARES SENIOR CENTER

CARES Rao Musunuru M.D. Enrichment Center

The Hudson CARES Rao Musunuru M.D. Enrichment Center located at 12417 Clock Tower Parkway and also at the Elfers or New Port Richey CARES locations offer Travel Club bus trips to local festivals and events. The CARES senior centers also offer daily activities such as the “Silver Sneakers” exercise program, Yoga classes, line dancing, crafts and bridge. Each Friday at 6pm – 9pm the center hosts karaoke night with Roy. Cost is $3 for karaoke night. Check the center’s calendar for complete times and dates of their many diverse activities.

“Feed the Homeless at Thanksgiving”

Knights of Columbus Hall in Port Richey on Friday, November 25th

On the day after Thanksgiving, Pasco County Government employees, local charities

and citizens will join together to feed the homeless in our community. Approximately

250 full-course meals will be served. If you would like to help for an hour or two, call Cliff

Gill at 727-860-4903.

Give thanks by volunteering to serve a Thanksgiving meal to the homeless.

Recipe of the Month:

Pressure Cooker Chicken in Raspberry Sauce

Ingredients 1/2 cup Sherry 1/2 cup vinegar 1/2 - 1 cup raspberry jam 2 tablespoons soy sauce 2-3 tablespoons honey 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard 1 garlic clove 2 tablespoons olive oil 10-12 chicken thighs, with skin & bone Orange zest to garnish

Instructions

- Mix all ingredients together except oil, chicken, and zest. - Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes. - Heat oil in pressure cooker and brown chicken thighs. - Remove chicken and set aside. - Add raspberry mixture to the pressure cooker and scrape up browned pieces from the bottom. - Return chicken to the cooker, close and lock lid. - Bring up to high, until pressure is achieved then reduce heat and cook for 12 minutes. - Fully reduce the pressure, remove chicken and keep warm. - Reduce the sauce in uncovered cooker until it thickens. - Pour thickened sauce over chicken and garnish with orange zest.
