Thank you to everyone who has helped with the smooth transition from summer to school. We had an overwhelming majority of parents attend Back to School Night. What a gift to see our involved parents! I reiterate a message given during my talk at back to school night…WE CARE ABOUT ETERNAL LIFE. Yes, our mission at Sacred Heart is given to us by Jesus Himself… make disciples of our children to reach the goal of being together in heaven. Pope Francis, with urgency, asks us, “What are we waiting for?” Well, our answer to the Pope…we’re not waiting! We have 256 families who have chosen Catholic Education at Sacred Heart this year. We have a staff of 34 who are committed to bringing souls into union with Jesus. You know, I’ve been in education for thirty years. Just when I believe that a job has been done the best it can, the glory of God surprises me. We can probably all agree that He is the God of Great Surprises…He is a God of great wonder and awe. The wonder and awe that has transpired just this last week is confirmation of God’s glory. We have a new pastor and associate pastor who love engaging with our staff and students, parents who took the time draw welcoming chalk greetings on the side walk for the first day of school, 7 new teachers who have brought creative ideas and re- energized our staff, 32 new families who have been welcomed with extraordinary love by our current families, teachers who understand that their vocation is only fulfilled through prayer and reception of the Sacraments, and students who bring wonder and awe to everything we do! Just the joy the first week of school makes us marvel about what God has store for us this year. With Christ at the center of all our dialogue and decisions, miracles-big and small, will occur. Will you join me in prayer entrusting ourselves to the Mercy of God to guide us this school year. Lord, With praise, gratitude and humility, we gather as a community of believers. You ask us to seek first the kingdom of God and everything else will be granted unto us. We implore the Holy Spirit to grace us with desire to pursue You first in our lives. We entrust : Our past…to your Mercy Our Present… to your Love Our Future…to your Providence. Amen In the Triumph of God’s Great Love, Maureen Engen Principal In This Issue

Spirit Day next WednesdayStudents are allowed to wear the current school theme spirit shirt that was purchased at enrollment day on Wednesday, Sept. 2nd. Students may wear jeans, uniform pants/bottoms, or knee length jean shorts with the shirt. Basketball and gym shorts are not allowed. If you do not have a shirt and would like to order one, please contact the front office at 913-422-5520.
