The agreement was signed after delegation level talks between Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and visiting President of Egypt Mr Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in New Delhi. In his press statement, Shri Modi said, growing radicalisation, including violence and spread of terror are a real threat across regions. Pitching for greater information and operational exchanges to combat terrorism, the two countries also agreed to cooperate on emerging challenges of cyber security. They will work together to fight drug trafficking, transitional crimes and money laundering. Saying trade and investment linkages are essential for eco prosperity of the societies, Shri Modi called for increased flow of goods, Port Blair, Sept. 2 22 Armed Forces officers attending the Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC) at College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad accompanied by Brigadier NS Sarna, Head of Faculty CDM and Directing Staff, are on a visit to Andaman & Nicobar Islands from Aug 31 to Sept 4, 2016. During the visit the Course is being familiarized with the unique aspects of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and innovative infrastructure development, so that future military leadership remains sensitive to civil security, development, ecology and environmental concerns. The Course is being briefed at the Command Headquarters as also by respective Components. The Course is also scheduled to visit defence establishments at Car Nicobar, Kamorta and Kardip. Additionally, the Course will visit places of interest in Port Blair including Cellular Jail, the Anthropological Museum and Ross Island, to acquaint themselves with cultural heritage and the Higher Defence Management Course visits Andaman & Nicobar Isles glorious past of the Islanders. CDM is a premier tri- service institution imparting higher management training to officers of the rank of Colonel in Army and holding equivalent ranks in Navy and Air Force. The HDMC participants are exposed to contemporary management thoughts, Port Blair, Sept. 2 Due to breakdown of a 5 MW DG set of M/s. SPCL Power Plant at Bambooflat, the Electricity Department is excising half an hour to one hour rotational load shedding from 5.30 pm to 10.30 pm in Port Blair and South Andaman area w.e.f. 27.7.2016. The load shedding during evening hours from 05.30 PM to 10.30 PM will further continue till the damaged DG set at M/s. SPCL Power Plant is repaired. The schedule is tentative and may change any time subject to actual available power generation. The schedule will be repeated after every 3rd day, till rectification of DG Set of 20 MW IPP, Bambooflat. In addition, rotational load shedding if required will be carried out during day hours also on as and when required basis. The electricity consumers have been requested to cooperate with the Department. As part of the preparedness efforts towards meeting this end, a training has been scheduled for all FPS dealers of South Andaman (except Little Andaman) from Sept. 5 to 9, 2016 in batches of 25 each per session i.e morning or afternoon session (as per time slot allotted to each) in the Conference Hall of the Controller of Legal Metrology building in the premises of Directorate of CS & CA. The siren will be tested on 3rd and 18th of every month at 1000 Hrs. during the test, the siren will be blown for two successive blast for 30 seconds. Siren of Electronic Display Board installed at Police Control Room, State Control Room, Junglighat (Fisheries Dept.), Met Office, MRCC, JOC, INS Jarawa at Port Blair, Fisheries Dept. at Rangat, EOC at Mayabunder, MRCC at Diglipur, Fisheries Dept. at Hut Bay, EOC at Kamorta, EOC at Car Nicobar, and MRCC & EOC at Campbell Bay will also be blown in a similar manner at 1000 Hrs. Therefore, the general public is hereby informed not to panic during the test of siren and requested to remain calm during test blast of siren on the date and time specified above.
