description

California Light focuses on three seminal California painters—Elmer Bischoff, Richard Diebenkorn and David Park—who first came to national attention in the 1950s as pioneers of the Bay Area Figuration movement and its emphasis on the representation and symbolism of light in painting. All work included in the exhibition is from Houston public and private collections. Includes an essay by Alison de Lima Greene and a selected bibliography. (Exhibition on view January 21 – March 5, 1995)
