Title 1 Goals

Goal #1 : Increase reading proficiency level of non-fiction text/text dependent analysis for all student groups. Specifically Increase in reading proficiency for 4th grade students by 10% as compared to the 2013-2014 data as noted by the School Performance Profile (this would mean that we would need to see at least10 students’ move from basic & below basic into proficient). That would mean we would see an increase from 68.90% to 78.90% in reading. Increase in reading proficiency for 4th grade ELL students by 16.7% as compared to the 2013-2014 data as noted by the School Performance Profile (this would mean that we would need to see at least 2 students move from basic & below basic into proficient). Increase in reading proficiency for 4th grade IEP students by 12.5% as compared to the 2013-2014 data as noted by the School Performance Profile (this would mean that we would need to see at least 2 students move from basic & below basic into proficient).

Title 1 Goals

Goal #2 : Improve student performance of multi-step problem solving in mathematics grades K-4. Maintain over 80% proficiency and aim for an increase in math proficiency for 4th grade students by 2% as compared to the 2013-2014 data as noted by the School Performance Profile (this would mean that we would need to see at least 3 students move from basic & below basic into proficient). That would mean we would see an increase from 83.50% to 85.50% in math.

Increase amount/complexity of non-fiction text and provide comprehension strategy lessons/feedback via programs such as Read 180, Lexia, and Star 360

Data analysis of common core content reviewed and needs addressed through small group instruction. There have been several meetings with the 3rd & 4th grade teams in October and November in order to address this content.

Use of PA State Performance Rubric for students to self-evaluate their performance on open ended response items and rework after analysis to improve their work.

Use of exemplar open ended response items to model advanced work

IST and teachers planning and co-teaching open response lessons.

Lessons reflecting teaching up with a focus on close reading and Text Dependent Analysis. Reading IST modeling this in classrooms.

Flexible grouping targeting individual students needs

Identify and provide further Professional Development on Formative Assessments.

Act 153

The law now requires all school employees, contractors and volunteers having direct contact with children to obtain new clearances (child abuse background checks and state and federal criminal history checks) every 36 months.  

Effective December 31, 2014, new volunteers must have clearances in order to be approved for their positions. Existing volunteers who do not already have clearances must get them by July 1, 2015, and those with clearances that will be more than three years old on July 1, 2015, must get new ones before July 1.

Act 153

For purposes of the CPSL clearance requirements, a volunteer is an adult serving in an unpaid position in which they are individually responsible for the welfare of a child or have “direct contact with children” (care, supervision, guidance or control of children, or routine interaction with children).

If a volunteer has continuously resided in Pennsylvania for 10 years AND swears in writing that he or she has never been convicted of a disqualifying crime in PA, or the corresponding offenses under the laws of any other jurisdiction, they need only the Department of Human Services child abuse clearance and the PA criminal history check; the federal check is not needed.
