What is PACC?

The Parkside Access to College Credit Program (PACC) allows eligible high school students to earn college and high school credit simultaneously by taking and successfully completing designated courses at their high school, known as concurrent enrollment.

What is PACC?

Dual Enrollment Programs that allow high school students to take college classes in order to earn both high school and transcripted college credit.

Concurrent Enrollment (PACC)

Students take college courses at their high school, during the regular school day, and simultaneously earn both high school and college credit upon successful completion.

AP (Advanced Placement)

Universities may grant college credit to students who obtain appropriate scores on the national AP examinations taken in May.

IB (International Baccalaureate)

Universities may grant college credit to students who obtain appropriate scores on the national IB examinations taken in May.

Youth Options Students attend and take college courses at the university and earn both high school and college credit.

Course Options Students attend and take college courses at the university and may earn both high school and college credit.

• Students have the opportunity to experience a college course in familiar environment• Students earn their grade and credit throughout the term – students do not take a

national examination at the end of the course for college credit like AP and IB courses• Students successfully completing a PACC course demonstrate academic rigor, looking

favorable on university admission applications• Courses transfer to most US colleges and universities as real courses• Course load is more flexible when entering college with completed credits• (Research shows) higher student retention rates in college for students that have

taken concurrent enrollment courses• Earn college credit before graduating high school and save on future tuition costs!!

Student StatusIf you choose to take a PACC course you will have to apply for admission to UW-Parkside

• There is no application fee• There are admission counselors able to help • You must have the consent of your designated

school officialYou must watch your email given on your application for your admission status.

Once your application for admission is complete and approved

Fall Application for Admission Deadline is: Monday, July 31, 2017. If you miss this deadline you will need permission from the instructor to take the course.

Student Tips Being a college student requires commitment and responsibility:• Academic rigor is more than a high school course• Course preparation and studying time per week is

typically 2-3 hours for each hour you are in class• Grades received in courses follow your academic

career forever• Good grades can aid in college admission

decisions, scholarships and grant awards, and much more

• Poor grades (less than a 2.0 GPA) can negatively effect your future financial aid awards

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

Student Information and Communication

FERPA protects the privacy interests of students and their education records.

Students attending postsecondary institutions MUST provide a release of information for administrators or teachers to discuss their college course information with parents or guardians. • This includes information about the course such a tuition, billing, grades within the Student

Management System (Infinite Campus, Skyward, etc.) and parent/student/teacher conferences.

Tuition for 2017 - 2018Tuition for PACC courses is less than 1/3 of the regular college per credit tuition rate, that’s a huge savings for students and their families. PACC course cost = $98.97/credit

Tuition for Fall 2017

TUITION: $98.97 per credit. That is 1/3 the cost of a regular UW-Parkside college credit.

PAYMENT PLAN: 3-Payment plan available. There is a fee to enroll in payment planshowever, our Cashiers Office will waive that fee if you call or email and identify yourselfas a PACC student/family.

PAYMENT: due September 19, 2017.

IRS FORM 1098-T: Form 1098-T will be furnished to all students who had qualified tuition and other related educational expenses billed to them during the previous calendar year.

UW-Parkside Scholarships Fall 2017

The PACC Program is committed to offering college credit courses to all students and has established a scholarship fund that will offer partial scholarships. These are competitive scholarships and there are limited funds available each semester. The priority application for scholarship deadline is Monday, July 31st – the same as the application for admission. Keep in mind you must be admitted to be considered for a scholarship. Scholarship applications will be accepted until August 7th.

SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA:1. Financial Need (45%)2. Community Service, Employment, School Activities and Awards (20%)3. First Generation College Student Status (15%)4. A Personal Statement (10%)5. Academic Performance (10%)

The online scholarship application can be found on the PACC website.

Scholarship decisions will be made by August 10th. Students should check their Ranger mail for notification.

SOLAR Student Account

SOLAR (Student Online Access To Ranger) system provides you with 24/7 access to information regarding your application.

• Students will receive an email once their application is submitted with SOLAR activation instructions.

• Students must Activate their Account before they are able to use SOLAR

SOLAR is an online tool that is used for enrolling in classes, paying tuition balances, requesting transcripts and much more.

• An official transcript of a student’s record is issued only by the Office of the Registrar. • Students can order a transcript through the Order Official Transcript link in your SOLAR Parkside Self

Service or stop by the Office of the Registrar.• Search TRANSCRIPT on the UW-Parkside website for more information.

Transferring Courses

• Students interested in how courses transfer in UW-System and the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) can use the Transfer Information System (TIS) to identify transferability of PACC courses.

• The PACC office will help students who need assistance with future colleges and universities if after submitting the transcript and course syllabus the institution needs more information.
