1 March 2012

Dear Sir or Madam: Greetings! We hope that our letter finds you in good health and disposition. Please allow us to introduce our company, Airdance, and our show “ADARNA.” In celebration and thanksgiving for 10 fruitful years in the industry, Airdance staged a thrilling production that marries dance, theater and music into a unique, multi-sensory experience for both the performers and the audience. “Adarna”, a Contemporary Dance-theater piece based on the Filipino folk tale “Ibong Adarna”, was choreographed by renowned artists Ava Villanueva, Rhosam Prudenciado Jr., Mia Cabalfin and Jed Amihan and was brought to life by the company members and apprentices of Airdance. The show was premiered last September 30 and October 1, 2011 at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater at the Ateneo de Manila University, Loyola Heights, Quezon City. In this regard, we would like to explore the possibility of holding a performance of “Adarna” at your school/institution or at a nearby theater to be viewed by your students/constituents. We are planning performances starting September 2012. Airdance believes that dance (and arts in general) is integral to the holistic development of the youth. “Adarna” was conceptualized to be socially relevant, with emphasis on the family as the basic unit of society, while promoting Contemporary Dance as a new and legitimate performing art. Included in this package for your perusal is our Company Profile, Synopsis of the Show, Performance Photos, Technical Rider, and a Cost & Stipulations sheets. You may view excerpts of the performance by visiting this link: http://www.airdance.com.ph/news-a-events/performances/165-adarna. ADARNA SYNOPSIS

Airdance’s ADARNA is a celebration of family and belonging. Set in contemporary time, this dance drama presents the current issues concerning the Filipino family, the conflicts that divide them and the efforts to keep them together. Adarna is the now elusive idea of family. The patriarch Fernando raised his three sons by himself. Unfortunate circumstances led to the separation of Fernando from his wife Ada and their three children grew up without a mother. The story begins with the three sons as adults struggling with their own personal lives. Peter, Diego, and Juancho battle with their own monsters and are engulfed by various vices. They have very little time for their aged and sick father. As Fernando’s health worsened, he gathers his children to them tell of his last wish to see his wife again and to have a “complete” family before he dies. The three sons embark on different adventures (and misadventures!) to search

for their mother. They encounter adversities and are side-tracked or completely derailed from fulfilling their task of getting their family back together. Guided by the kindness of his heart and a deep longing for a mother, Juancho perseveres and his efforts are greatly rewarded. A grand reunion ensues as Fernando gets his wish. On his death bed he is surrounded by his three sons and his wife − a family who has forgiven each member’s shortcomings, a family ready to move forward together.
