Belated Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year!

Ok, apologies, the newsletter was late for December as only just getting to it today . In my defence we have finally got rain!! Our water tank may get filled and my poor gold fish may get some more room to swim in their pond. Its been close to 2 months

since we have had anything more than a very light sprinkling of drizzle.

The new year is here at last, must remember to write 2018!

We had a great December club night I am told even though our expected judges fell sick at the last minute and couldnt make it. Some fine images of Thames were

submitted and those that passed them on have got theirs in the news letter below.

Your editor had a wee jaunt over the xmas break down to Mokau for a couple of nights with the Te Awamutu Camera Club team, we went especially to get some

shots of the the Three Sisters down at Tongaporutu. Well worth going if you haven’t been there before. Just make sure you check the tides first as you can only get out the short walk during low tide. Bit further on from there is the Mt Damper Falls as well,

we didn’t get there this trip but maybe next time.

There is coming up in January, the Wrights water Gardens outing, this is the 27th January, I wont be on this one as will be on the start of my 2 week South Island

Odyssey on my motorcycle, hoping to come back with a few days of photo editing!

Hopefully you have all got your Summer Assignments coming along, ready for submission at the February club night, 13th February. Remember, there is no club

night in January.

My Computer room has been taken over as a Kitten Nursery (again!) 2 new editions arrived from Santa, Gandalf the Grey and the currently unofficially named Casper.

Quote of the Month

“Photography for me is not looking, it’s feeling. If you can’t feel what you’re looking at, then you’re never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures.”

What is coming up - Outings

Wrights Water Gardens

27th January 2018128 Mauku Road,

Auckland

A stunning and picturesque watergarden located 45 minutes south of Auckland city. Ponds, colourful gardens and winding pathways surround the iconic Mauku

Waterfall. The garden is a great location for day visits, retreats, weddings and special occasions.

Relax in the bright red pagoda of the Oriental Garden, venture your way through native bush along the Mauku stream, sip a cappucino at our newly-reopened café.While still retaining its picturesque beauty, the Watergardens have undergone several exciting new developments under the new management. An impressive display of eccentric and memorable sculptures have been added to the gardens. Winding, paved paths and new landscaping projects make the Watergardens more accessible than ever. Along with our turtles and goldfish, we now have turkeys, alpacas, and chickens for children to play with.
