To My Shag Club Friends,

As most of you know, it has been a warm winter. Even the

daffodils are in bloom, almost a month early. Well, this warm

weather did not deter 26 “partying fools” from venturing

down south to Costa Rica. For the past three years, Valerie

Taylor, et.al. has been the organizing force in planning a trip

down south to escape the normally cool weather (as

compared to cold that our neighbors in New England and Canada experience).

We spent a fantastic week enjoying 95+ degree weather, enjoying the pool and

ocean activities, some a fishing trip and even a few took to zip-lining. Not to

forget the delicious food, abundant adult beverages, and some quality time on

the dance floor. Check out the pictures elsewhere in this newsletter. Rumor has

it next year’s trip might be to the Dominican Republic or back to Cancun.

I’m sure by now that you have reviewed the proposed changes to the bylaws and

have either mailed your proxy to Sara or plan to attend the General Membership

Meeting on March 20th. Probably not the highest on your priority list but

necessary as the bylaws define the guiding principles under which we operate.

Hopefully, most who live locally have had the chance to enjoy our Monday night

activities at the Country Club. If not, please come and join us for a great evening

of socializing and dancing. Now that we have been there a month, any feedback,

both positive and otherwise is appreciated.

As I indicated at the last GMM, based on the survey results, your board voted to

hold the Pig Pickin, Harvest Dance, Fish Fry and NYE Gala again this year (our

silver anniversary). We also have a project underway to evaluate an event

featuring a live band or two. The CC has indicated a willingness to let us host

other events, not just our Monday night activities. The critical success factor for

all these events is volunteers, both to chair as well as to assist. A sign-up sheet

has been developed where you can sign up on Monday nights or by letting me

tools to communicate, both to the membership as well as to the world.

I am constantly reminded that shag folks are some of the friendliest folks around; especially the members of our club. The

same holds true for the members of other clubs. Although it probably appears to many that all I think about is shag

dancing/shag activities. That is false thinking. It’s just that when I meet folks that are involved in shag activities, I am

always welcomed as if I am a part of their shag family and have known them for ages. Thanks to you for making my shag

experience so rewarding.

All the best,

Bill
