Jesus meets them where they are (at the edge of the sea) and uses the language they knew (fishing) but what he calls them to is a life unlike anything they'd experienced prior! "The Making is in the Following"

August 2, 2015 10th Sunday after Pentecost

The question is not "Is God calling me?" but rather "Where and to what is God calling me?" As Jesus' first disciples found out, the call is not for a moment or a day, but to a whole new life. What We Believe

...the living core of the Christian faith is revealed in scripture, illumined by tradition, vivified in personal experience, and confirmed by reason.

...the one God we worship exists fundamentally within a community of the three per-sons of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

…God’s son, Jesus, came to live among us as fully divine and fully human. His life, death, and resurrection points to and fulfills the good news of the freedom from sin and death, which we proclaim.

...we share one mission with Christians throughout time, to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

...it is into community (koinonia) that we have been called to coexist and through this community that we are able to truly manifest the body of Christ.

…wherever you are on your journey, we are here for one another!

“In Essentials Unity, In Non-Essentials Liberty, In All Things Charity.”

Nurse Notes - Eye Injury Prevention

Eye Injury Facts and Myths

Men are more likely to sustain an eye injury than women.

Most people believe that eye injuries are most common on the job — especial-ly in the course of work at factories and construction sites. But, in fact, nearly half (44.7 percent) of all eye injuries occurred in the home, as reported during the fifth-annual Eye Injury Snapshot (conducted by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Ocular Trauma).

More than 40 percent of eye injuries reported in the Eye Injury Snapshot were caused by projects and activities such as home repairs, yard work, cleaning and cooking. More than a third (34.2 percent) of injuries in the home occurred in living areas such as the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, living or family room.

More than 40 percent of eye injuries every year are related to sports or recrea-tional activities.

Eyes can be damaged by sun exposure, not just chemicals, dust or objects.

Prevention Tips In the house– When using household chemicals, read the instructions and la-

bels carefully, work in a well-ventilated area and make sure to point spray nozzles away from you. many chemicals are extremely hazardous and can permanently destroy the surface of your eyes, resulting in blindness. For this reason, it’s very important to wear appropriate eye protection.

In the workshop—Think about the work you will be doing and wear protec-

tive eyewear to shield your eyes from flying fragments, fumes, dust particles, sparks and splashing. Many objects can fly into your eyes and cause injury.

In the garden—Put on protective eyewear before you use a lawnmower, pow-

er trimmer or edger and be sure to check for rocks and stones because they can become dangerous projectiles as they shoot from these machines.

In the garage—Battery acid sparks and debris from damaged or improperly

jump-started auto batteries can severely damage your eyes. Learn the proper way to jump-start an auto, and keep protective goggles in the trunk of your car to use for those emergencies and repairs.
