What is ABATE? American Bikers Aimed Toward Education is a not-for-profit cor-poration formed to promote and protect the interests of New York State motorcyclists. ABATE monitors and interacts with the legis-lative process, enhancing the image of the sport and providing educational and social opportunities for members as well as non-members. ABATE will continue to strive to become acquainted with both the issues and the people of the motorcycling communi-ty. WE ENCOURAGE ALL OUR MEMBERS TO BE IN-FORMED REGISTERED VOTERS. Chapter Meeting June 11, 2017 Called to order: 12:31 pm Pledge of Allegiance Moment of Silence Roll Call: President/VP/Secretary~Newsletter/Sgt. @ Arms/Legislative/Legislative Assistant/Products/Membership Absent: Treasurer/Road Captain/Webmaster Motion to waive the reading of last meeting minutes: 1st-Mike 2nd-Mike G. President Report: Covered in old business. VP Report: none at this time. Legislative Report: Freedom Rally went well. There is an article in Chrome Biker magazine regarding this. Ben met with four legislators and they agreed with our issues. Found someone on the transportation committee that is on board with our issues, as well. Still working on the Credo/Kade (vulnerable persons law). This covers pedestrians/bicyclist/motorcyclists. There is more information on our website and the state website. Treasurer Report: Jerry read report (May) Motion to accept: 1st Mike 2nd-Wayne Membership Report: As of 31 April 2017-272 total - See Jerry for information regarding the “membership incentive program.” Secretary/Newsletter Report: none at this time. Road Captain Report: absent Webmaster Report: Absent PR Report: Jerry reported that “Watch for Motorcycles” billboards-still a few up. Sgt. @ Arms Report: There were some issues with Sgt. @ Arms at the Watchfire– There will be a written copy of the job description of what is expected of a Sgt. @ Arms-Jerry read from the Bi-laws regarding this issue. The description is vague but is designed as such so it can be fine tuned for each chapter. Old Business: Watchfire-no stop at the Bridge Street Tavern due to construction. On Saturday, several members helped to hang flags. There was a table with information. Had refreshments back at the meeting hall. Joker Run went well. Memorial/Freedom of Choice run July 01-need volunteers to help with set-up the day before and on the morning of the run. $5 donation which includes entrance to rodeo. (wrist bands will be used for this) T-shirts will be picked up by Jerry. Need pallets for bonfire. (Little Fingers will get them) There will be food available and beer specials. DJ will be from 2-6 and there will be a band in the bar from 8-12. If you need camping gear transported to site, please have it to the meeting hall by Friday. Sunday morning there will be coffee and danish along with bloody mary special. Dice run on August 26-kick stands up at NOON-$10 donation. At each stop, you roll the dice and add up the total, whomever has the highest total is the winner. New Business: Region C meeting at our meeting hall on July 09 at 2pm. Our state president read a letter regarding the bumper stickers being put on other advertisements. Please refrain from doing this. Remember the next officer meet-ing is June 27 at 6pm. Jerry and Lisa have been making presentations for the ABLE driving school regarding motor-cycle safety. If you would like t be trained and help out, see Jerry or Lisa. Popcorn requested to approve George Leonard to a new Sgt. @ Arms position. Board unanimously approved. Motion to adjourn: 1st Mike 2nd-Mike G. Adjourned: 1:21 pm
