'•' " : i.' : There arc several results to bo gained byithoroughly pulverizing the soil before planting the abed. If this is done, in nearly all cases the Beed will germinate quickor and bettor, and plants will make a thriftier sjfeart in growth. A certain amount of heat and moisture ia n'eeessury to induce a good germination of |tiio seed and in a majority of ea9es this can bo so- cured by placing it in contact with the •soil, and a fine tilth will help materially in thia. Then when the soil ! ia in a good tilth the fine, tondor roots of tne plant will be bettor able to penetrate the Boil to advantage. One of the principal advantages gained in pulverizing the soil is that the plant food is brought into a more available con- dition for tho nae of the plants and this hclpa materially hi securing a bettor growth.- .In many oases, even in a thin, croppod- down soil, a much better growth and yield can be scoured if the soil :s prepar- ed in a fine tilth before sowing he fleed, and kept so during growth by frequent cultivation, than would pthorwino bo pos- sible. By bringing the soil t'c a good tilth before planting, it is easier to keep it in a good tilth afterwards, while tlio plailts will make a more vigorous start to grow. Thoroughly fining tho soil aids i,t to re- tain moisture "as well as to draw it 'from the sub-soil by oapilliary attraction. While fair crops may be grown, in a rich soil with indifferent preparations, tho best growth and yiold is only possible by having tho soil in ti fine tilth boipro plant- ing Ibe seed, and ap far as possible keep- ing it in such coudition during growth. With nearly all cultivated crops one of the best, plans |of management is to plow reasonably deep, prepare (he soil in a good tilth before planting ho seeds, and thou keop it thoroughly jo during growth by shallow' surface cultivation. This puts the aval able plant food in good condition to be tali on up bjy tha- growing plants, and helps materially in supplying tho necessary moisture. ' The more thoroughly tho soil is pre- pared before planting, tho less work will bo necessary to keap in a good tilth after- wards; hence, it is good eootiptny to take fully hi y<W Write us Economical buyers should wrlto for description of Ijiltty used Sliglltiy used, pianos i«3uuv«u v **'p"' and fcjcorid hfind (pianos. IT l lRINOa rjJANT L FOOD INTO A

AVAIIiAllIiIB CONDITION. • ' • ' " : i . ' :

There arc several results to bo gained byithoroughly pulverizing the soil before planting the abed. If this is done, in nearly all cases the Beed will germinate quickor and bettor, and plants will make a thriftier sjfeart in growth. A certain amount of heat and moisture ia n'eeessury to induce a good germination of |tiio seed and in a majority of ea9es this can bo so-cured by placing it in contact with the

•soil, and a fine tilth will help materially in thia. Then when the soil ! ia in a good tilth the fine, tondor roots of tne plant will be bettor able to penetrate the Boil to advantage.

One of the principal advantages gained in pulverizing the soil is that the plant food is brought into a more available condition for tho nae of the plants and this hclpa materially hi securing a bettor growth.- •

.In many oases, even in a thin, croppod-down soil, a much better growth and yield can be scoured if the soil :s prepared in a fine tilth before sowing he fleed, and kept so during growth by frequent cultivation, than would pthorwino bo possible. By bringing the soil t'c a good tilth before planting, it is easier to keep it in a good tilth afterwards, while tlio plailts will make a more vigorous s tar t to grow.

Thoroughly fining tho soil aids i,t to retain moisture "as well as to draw i t 'from the sub-soil by oapilliary attraction.

While fair crops may be grown, in a rich soil with indifferent preparations, tho best growth and yiold is only possible by having tho soil in ti fine tilth boipro planting Ibe seed, and ap far as possible keeping it in such coudition during growth.

The more thoroughly tho soil is prepared before planting, tho less work will bo necessary to keap in a good tilth afterwards ; hence, it is good eootiptny to take
