We started documenting Texas State Records in 2012 using only results from the Texas State Meet from
1999 to 2012 that were uploaded from the USA Weightlifting ‘Hangastar’ system. Also, in 2012, we
moved to allow results from national and some international meets to be eligible to set records. Here

Appendix B – Claim A Record
To set a record, a lifter must exceed any current record at any event listed above in Appendix A. Additional International Events can be added if they are listed and results posted on the IWF website.
To claim a record, send an email to [email protected] within 2 weeks of setting the record with the following information:
1. Your Name 2. Your Results 3. Your Category
a. Include Age Group If Required 4. Event 5. Your USAW#
a. Your USAW# Must Indicate An Address In Texas
**The only exception to sending an email is if the record was set at the Texas State Weightlifting Championships.**
Please note that if you do not submit your record within the required 2-week period, and another lifter sets the record at another event, the record will belong to the person that just set the record.
Example: Lifter A sets a record for the Open 55kg in the snatch with a lift of 89 at the AO1. Lifter A doesn’t submit the record in time and lifter B sees the record is still 88. Lifter B lifts in the National Championships a few months later in the Open 55kg category and makes 89 in the snatch. Lifter B would then be credited with the record even though Lifter A set it first.
The reason for this is that there is now way for us to know if a lifter is from Texas based on the results provided at the end of events. Additionally, there could be a perceived competitive advantage if Lifter A breaks the record and knows that Lifter B could break the new record. So, lifter A withholds the new record so that Lifter B only breaks the recorded record, but only ties the number that lifter A made. If lifter B knew there was a new record, Lifter B may have attempted a heavier weight. Therefore, the responsibility is on the athlete or coach to notify us of any new records.
