We can't quite believe that what started off as a loose idea over a few beers

has now reached the milestone of it's fifth year. The great state of Queensland

saw 17 new breweries open up in 2017, which is a testament to our insatiable

thirst for good beer! We're enormously stoked to continue to be a part of the

changing beer community, with a significant amount of breweries and bars

festively joining us for their fifth straight year.

The Brewsvegas team started off from the get go as a not-for-profit group that

relies on volunteer work from Brisbane's great beer community to make this

festival happen.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time or gotten involved with

what must be almost 500 events over the last 5 years. We're also proud as

punch to have Stone & Wood brew up this year's official Brewsvegas beer

and to generously donate half of the proceeds to Oz Harvest, with the other

half going towards Brewsvegas 2019. Pints raised to them! Most of all, thank

you to the good beer drinkers of Brisbane. It’s your continued support and

relentless passion for finding great beers, bars, breweries and restaurants

that has turned what was once a desert for flavour and variety into the good

beer oasis we now live in.

So once again we urge you - Try something new, be it a beer you're unfamiliar

with or a venue you've never been before. Make some new friends or catch

up with some old ones, have a good time, look after each other and raise your

glass to Brisbane. Viva Brewsvegas!

second year! The festival within a festival created by beer

website The Crafty Pint has been a highlight of Melbourne's

Good Beer Week for years and this year, the Brewsvegas PoO

celebrations are also going international! 8 venues across Brisbane

will each host a state (or in two cases, a country) and will have

their taps taken over by that region's brewing talents for the duration of

Brewsvegas. Expect collaborations, rare beers, 'meet the brewers' and good times in eight

of Brisbane's most beer passionate venues!

The taps and depths of the Netherworld are being infiltrated by Victorian beer throughout Brewsvegas. There is absolutely no shortage of good beer from Australia's state capital of craft, so we'll be showcasing a range of both our favourite Vic breweries along with beers rarely seen beyond southern borders. We'll have 16 taps of Victorian goodness with each day highlighting a different brewery's flight of 4 beers!

The Scratch is heading deep Down Under, with a Brewsvegas-long celebration of all things South Australia. With multiple brewery showcases over the course of Brewsvegas, and specials on Cheese Boards featuring South Australian cheeses, this tiny Milton beer bar will be showcasing the best of beer, cider, and cheese that the region has to offer. Additionally, The Scratch will be hosting “FAIR DINKUM”, a socially conscious event aimed at raising awareness and funds for Australian conservation efforts, with a lineup of special beers brewed with native Australian Ingredients.

Newstead at Doggett Street welcomes our buds from WA for this year’s Pint of Origin with three dedicated events designed to showcase the very best that WA has to offer. Meet, greet and ask Little Creatures anything at our Western Pioneers evening on the 13th March. Maybe you’ve always wanted to get close to a 6ft 6 brewer? You can on the 14th as Paul Wyman from Nowhere Man brewery joins us for a session after his Newie brew day. Perhaps you’d like to be Cloutrageous as we walk you through a vertical tasting of five Clout Stout vintages - Nail Brewing’s renowned imperial stout. Whichever event you choose it’ll be Perthect (sorry).

We love Tassie here at the Taphouse! We’re not sure whether it’s the fact that they have the cleanest air, the best water or the weirdest locals? Whatever it is, it makes their beer taste great! We’re super excited to showcase all Tasmania has to offer, all week long the taps will flow with Tasmanian froths from Hobart Brewing, Willie Smiths, Moo Brew and Shambles Brewing just to name a few. Stop by and grab a Pint of Origin Paddle every day of the week, but be sure to keep Sunday the 11th free - it’s going to be a Taste of Tassie Spectacular!

New Zealand, Aotearoa, the land of the long white cloud. Surely a cloud formed by steam rising off the 150ish craft breweries scattered across the island nation mashing in on a cold morning. The Kiwis have been pushing the boundaries of brewing to crazy new levels and the Mill gets to turn over our taps to NZ beers for all of Brewsvegas! Expect Pineapple Lumps as bar snacks, chilly bins full of tinnies, Flight of the Concords blasting through the speakers, and the permanent tap of Cucumber Hippy Berliner we’ve been talking about for so long. It’s gonna be epic.

Screw Trump, the NSA and the KKK. The USA we love is laced with malts, barrels and heaps of hops. All of the hops. To save you the expense, jetlag and flat-white withdrawals, we’re bringing the best of the USA to Brewski for the whole week of Brewsvegas for Crafty Pint’s Pint of Origin USA. Get ready for stupidly big events, stupidly rare beers, stupidly hoppy beers, stupidly sour beers and the return of the stupidly awesome Battle of the Barrel: USA vs AUS on Thursday March 15. And because we don’t advocate the saying ‘eating is cheating’ we’ll be opening up our kitchen to some of Australia’s best BBQ teams, pairing proper American Barbeque with proper American beer all week. Ben Kraus, founder of Bridge Road Brewers & avid bike rider will be leading the peloton around Brisbane starting at Teneriffe Ferry Terminal Park, going by Malt Traders and Wandering Cooks, then ending at Aether Brewing in Milton. There will be two routes: The 1st route for the social rider includes 3 venue stops along the way to refresh with a beverage from Bridge Road Brewers. Each venue is close to the city cycle drop points so if you don't have a bike you can still get moving and be part of the social peloton. Costumes are encouraged and prizes awarded to the best individual & group of riders. The 2nd route is for the more serious rider and will head from Teneriffe to the western suburbs, finishing at Aether Brewing. Routes will be posted on social media.

For our first Brewsvegas event of 2018, we're teaming up with two of Victoria's monstrous brewery oddities Kaiju Beer and Moon Dog Brewing to literally destroy a city...made of cardboard. We're inviting you, the innocent bystanders to help us build a city made out of cardboard. You can either prepare pieces at home or spend some time in the Netherworld armed with markers, tape and cardboard to create the ultimate city. When complete, we will be raffling off the opportunity to get in either the giant dog outfit or godzilla outfit to DUKE IT OUT AND DESTROY THE NETHERWORLD METROPOLIS! The breweries will be creating a collab beer to help us through this absurdity and of course, we will have the Rampage arcade game on site if you need some training in desturction. This year, 100% of the profits from the Stone

& Wood x Brewsvegas collab’s beer sales will

be donated. Half of the money will support the

continuation of the city’s annual week-long

celebration of good beer (aka Brewsvegas, yup it’s

a not for profit!) and the other half will be donated

to OzHarvest – a food rescue organisation,

collecting quality excess food from commercial

outlets and delivering it directly to more than 1000

charities supporting people in need across the

country.

Did you know that 4 million tonnes of food end

up as landfill, enough to fill 8,400 Olympic sized

swimming pools? What’s even crazier is that a

lot of that food is often unspoilt and still edible.

OzHarvest Brisbane collects some of this food,

turning it into over 200,000 meals, which are

delivered to 150 local agencies each and every

month.

The Northern Rivers independent brewery Stone

& Wood and Brewsvegas realised that they could

help out too, coming up with the idea to utilise

some local ingredients which otherwise would

have gone to waste.

The brew crew, which was a mix of Brewsvegas

organisers and Stone & Wood’s brewers, tossed

around using fruit, bread and grain alternatives like

rice or quinoa but ultimately Stone & Wood’s head

brewer Caolan Vaughn landed on sweet potato

and your regular Aussie potato.

“The addition of two types of potato adds

additional starch, enhances the smooth body of

the beer and increases the protein which aids in

head retention,” Caols said.

The collab brew is a hoppy potato ale that’s

punchy without taking all the limelight from all the

other beers to be tried in the lead up to and at

Brewvegas’ week.

TASTING NOTES: Medium body with light malt flavour and aroma. High hop aroma and flavour that smells of tropical fruit, citrus and has some light floral characteristics.

For one weekend only Tapworks Bar and Grill are expanding into the neighbouring greenspace of Westfield Chermside’s Outdoor Dining Precinct. We’re increasing our 30 existing taps and bringing over 50 beers and ciders to the festival. Pick up a paddle, wander the beer stalls under the dome or take on the taps inside. We’ll be slinging burgers on the green or you can treat yourself to our full menu inside the venue.

We're taking over The Old Museum and throwing a Brissy backyard party like no other, raising funds for Oz Harvest while celebrating Brewsvegas. We're kicking off in the garden from 5:30pm (gold coin donation entry) with our landy Clyde pouring refreshing brews (including an exclusive Brewsvegas x Oz Harvest Pilot Batch release for the party), a convoy of food trucks serving up their best, a selection of local market stalls selling their wares, live art and tunes pumping from the decks courtesy of vinyl DJ's Your Mates. It wouldn't be a backyard party without the whole family, so bring the kids along. The backyard of the Old Museum will be a family friendly event. It doesn't stop there - if you're into live, local music, we've got a special surprise band upstairs in the museum from 8:30pm for only $30. All profits raised will go towards Oz Harvest, and the incredible work they continue to do helping those in need within the Brisbane community. So come enjoy a couple of brews with a clear conscience, either with the family to our backyard event or, if you're in for the long haul and keen to buy tickets, to a live gig upstairs.

Sunday 18th March sees us recreate our Beerlympics on Castlemaine St. If you were around last year, you'll want to be involved again as this series of events will be even better and even bigger. Register a team of four and challenge us as our car park gets transformed into a giant inflatable obstacle course. You and your three best buds will take it in turns to compete whilst dodging all sorts of unfriendly fire in an attempt to smash 2017's records. Ticket includes entry plus beer and food.
