Deleting Messages and the Deleted Items Folder
Messages placed in your Deleted Items folder will be permanently deleted after 30 days. If you don’t want items placed in your Deleted Items folder to be permanently deleted, there are two options.
Create a new folder, designate it for messages you want to save, and manually drag those messages there.
Automatically archive your Deleted Items folder from the client version of Outlook. Here’s how:
1. Right click on the Deleted Items folder and choose Properties.
2. Click the AutoArchive tab.
3. Select Archive this folder using these settings: Clean out items older than 3 Weeks and Move old items to:
4. Browse to select a location on your computer.
5. Choose OK.
