Okanagan Falls Salmon Feast
The Salmon Feast held September 16-18th was a huge success with more than 400 people in attendance for the main feast on Sunday. The celebration kicked off with a Stick Game Tournament Friday night. The winners of the stick games were the Goodwater’s from OKIB and took home a prize of $1000. Saturday, the canoe paddlers left the head of Skaha Lake and arrived to a crowd by Ok Falls where dinner was served and followed by entertainment. The entertainers included: Billy Walker, Shayne Desjarlais & Kym Gouchie, Corinne Derickson, Warren & Austin, Justin George, Kaykaitkw, Maiya Robbie and Kelly Derickson. The ceremony Sunday was accompanied by the singers and drummers and led the way for the introductions of our dignitaries. The children were able to participate in the fisheries activity tent where they could paint and color. The feast and ceremony went great as we honored the salmon and river.
A big thank you goes out to all our sponsors, volunteers
and staff that helped make this event a success. We look
forward to seeing you all next year!
