November 28th marks the sixth annual Small Business Satur-day, a day to support the local businesses that create jobs, boost the economy, and preserve neighborhoods around the country. Small Business Saturday was created in 2010 in response to small business owners’ most pressing need: more customers.

Learn more about Small Business Saturday and how to be-come a Neighborhood Champion at ShopSmall.com/ACCE. You can sign up as an organization, business, or individual, but make sure you sign up by Nov. 9! Want to shop small with Chamber members? Find them online at our Business Directory at business.carolinachamber.org/list/.

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce will induct seven business leaders and families into the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Business Hall of Fame, 6:30-9:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 5 at The Carolina Inn.

Major Investor Spotlight: The Siena Hotel

Thank You, Volunteers!

Join Us for a Night of Elegance and Commemoration

You may know the nine individuals that serve on staff at the Cham-ber, but to do what we do, it takes time, talent and treasures from others. The Chamber is powered by a 35-member board of direc-tors, 53 committee members, 10 Ambassadors, and countless other volunteers. During this month when we pause to show our gratitude, we want to say THANK YOU to all those Chamber volunteers that offer their time and assets that make our Chamber a vibrant and strong com-munity force.

Ambassadors Alex Nickodem, Nancy Williams, Tom Cornwell, Ken Hammond, and Irene Briggaman host a ribbon cutting.

Tom Cornwell of Malvin Riggins is joined by Member Bene ts Specialist Lisa Weistart, and Ambassadors Jim McNeely, Catherine Shireman, Je rey Wehner, and Irene Briggaman.

We know our members are up on the news, so we’re sure that you’ve probably read about Major Investor The Siena Hotel and its restaurant, Il Palio. Here’s what’s happened in the past few months to the Triangle’s

longest-standing AAA-rated Four Diamond Hotel:

• The Siena Hotel Autograph Collection Lands Hotel of the Year Award: Presented by Marriott International, this accolade recognizes only one Autograph Collection hotel in the Americas that demonstrates premiere service and a quality guest experience.

• Il Palio Re-Opens, Unveiling Transformed Architecture, Fresh Menu: Il Palio by The Siena Hotel, Chapel Hill’s only Italian AAA-rated Four Diamond restaurant, has reopened its doors after its first major renovation in two decades.

Chef Teddy Diggs, Il Palio’s executive chef, says, “My approach to Italian cooking is simple: incor-porate fresh ingredients and let the flavors stand on their own. True Italian cuisine is balanced and rustic, and my role is to provide a time and a place to showcase the ingredients.”

• Siena Hotel proposes major expansion plan: As reported in the Triangle Business Journal, “The proposed project would also increase the hotel’s room capacity 77% from 79 rooms to a total of 140 hotel rooms available for guests…If approved, the hotel owners estimate the town would benefit from an additional $175,000 per year in additional property taxes and about $185,000 per year in additional occupancy taxes that would be collected from the additional room capacity. It would also create 15 to 20 new hotel job positions.”

Discover what’s new by attending a Chamber event at The Siena, dining at Il Palio, or by visiting sienahotel.com.
