The Charles Jago Northern Sports Centre offers professional-quality facilities for community use. Participate in this blend of traditional stretching mixed with Applied Functional Science. This class teaches you the best and latest soft tissue stretching, foam rolling, and regeneration techniques, as well as self-massage methods to empower you to take care of your body. ultrafit: boxer FiT Get ready to push your fitness further than you ever have. Workout like a boxer using heavy bags and air drills in this unique program. This is not a choreographed Cardio Box program. Train like Rocky. This class is a non-contact conditioning class and will not involve sparring. All participants must bring their own boxing gloves. Hand wraps are also highly recommended. Start up kits (including 10oz gloves and hand wraps) will be available if ordered when you register for this program. Ask at the time of registration. TabaTa TraininG caMP This is a high intensity interval training program that pushes you to your limits. Based on the Tabata method of interval training but with a goal to develop overall fitness, this program challenges you, yet leaves you smiling at what you accomplished. clinical weiGHT loss ProGraM This program helps those with significant weight loss goals, meet their objectives with the guidance of an Exercise Physiologist, Registered Dietician, Registered Nurse and Certified Personal Trainers. Medical conditions will be appropriately monitored and programs will be individualized. Bi weekly assessments, 4 weekly group training sessions, one on one nutrition sessions with a Dietician, plus group nutrition education and solo(homework) sessions will be the foundation of this program. The regular weekly sessions are instructed by Tracie Albisser, Liz Bennett, Curtis Arp, Jasmyne Barredo and Jared FederinkMon/Tues/Wed/Thurs 7:00pm-8:30pm 16 weeks/4 months $97.00 per week / $388.00 per month. 30 + sTrenGTH TraininG class For age 30+ athletes frustrated with the limitations of aging and chronic injuries. In a group exercise setting you participate in a full body functional strength program. At the onset of the program we perform a movement assessment to determine individual requirements. Depending on how severe your injuries or limitations are, we are able to modify the workout to work for you. As movement efficiency is the foundation of exercise and is the essential key for getting the best results, you will be instructed in proper corrective techniques to improve movement patterns. This class teaches you proper exercise techniques that will be instrumental in decreasing the risk of injury and increasing your physical longevity. aCtive aging: sTaYinG HealTHY, sTaYinG sTronG It’s no secret that fitness and quality of life are linked. booMer FiT This 50+ program is lead by a Kinesiologist and Exercise Physiologist. Your instructor helps you on your way to fitness or improving your fitness level, with age and medically specific training. If you are an older adult and have medical issues that have previously limited your participation, this is your chance! Adaptations for medical/clinical issues will be addressed for all participants. Learn safe, effective and age and medically appropriate methods for achieving optimal fitness. CyCle fit and ultra fit Hybrid Classes crank n’ core: Get your heart pumping and your core popping in this high-octane combination class. You’ll start with 30 minutes of spinning, then change it up to focus on your core muscles

cYcle FiT caMP: Challenging cycling intervals mixed with Boot Camp intervals. This class is designed to push you aerobically and muscularly. Improve your cardio, strength and endurance in this fast paced interval class.

orientations:New members are entitled to attend 1 orientation session to learn the safe use and operation of the equipment and a basic fitness program. Our personal trainers can accommodate from 2-10 people per session. Members must reserve a spot, in a scheduled time slot, no later than 48 hours before the session is scheduled to run. Spots must be reserved in advance at the NSC front desk. Sessions with fewer than 2 registrants, 48 hours before the scheduled session, will be rescheduled.

snoWflaKe sCaleFor everyone from beginner to advanced. Each drill or exercise will be shown for different fitness levels. Expect 3 levels of difficulty for most movements presented in these classes. The instructors provide all participants with suitable options.

For participants ready to improve technique and increase intensity. Best suited for individu-als who are already active 2-3 times per week or more. Instructors provide intermediate to advanced options.

For consistently active individuals (4 + times per week). Emphasizes advanced techniques at intensities challenging even the most experi-enced participants.

FIT™ (Functional Integrated Training) is the NSC’s signature approach to group fitness and personal training. We believe that all our fitness programs and training services should work synergistically to create balanced fitness for you the client. You will develop your primary fitness components such as cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular capacity and range of motion, as well as your secondary components such as balance, agility and coordination.

Mind body Fusion: This class provides you with a challenging training session blending exercises from both Yoga and Pilates. A steady flow of movement creates a mind-body experience that reduces stress and improves self awareness along with your strength, core stability, posture and flexibility.

You control the cadence and resistance, making this class suitable for riders fresh off the training wheels as well as someone looking for a new and motivating challenge. You’ll be ready to tackle the Greenway, Forests for the World, and even Cranbrook Hill on two wheels!

Tour De nsc: This high-intensity class will challenge your cycling performance, cardiovascular fitness, and muscular endurance. If you want to take your endurance riding to a new level, this is your class. Some spin or biking experience is recommended, as this class is aimed for the intermediate to advanced rider with an athletic focus. Whether you’re prepping for a triathlon, training to improve your outdoor riding, or just working on your fitness, this class will have you ready to ride it!

CHild-Minding Our new child-minding program allows families to focus on their health and fitness with peace of mind knowing that their children are in a nurturing and caring environment - professional, quality child-minding in a safe, friendly and fun surroundings where each child (ages 2 months - 6 years) is able to learn and develop at their own pace with our qualified staff. Parents/Guardians must be on the premises while their child is in child-minding. Up to 2 hours of supervision. Pre-booking space is recommended.

unbC aCtive MindsUNBC Active Minds is a summer camp where young minds can explore a world of science, sport and history; a place where activity illuminates learning and where imagination is at the heart of every day, a fun and interactive way to foster creativity, enhance skills, and cultivate lasting memories for campers through athletic, recreational, and educational experiences.

UNBC Active Minds is a community program offered and designed by the University of Northern British Columbia; a true university experience with all camps being hosted at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre and facilitated by UNBC professors and students.

Each week-long interactive camp has a theme which runs through the games, science projects, arts and related sport activities. UNBC Active Minds is the perfect way to enrich your child’s summer!

indoor playground On cold, hot or rainy days, kids and parents can have fun playtime together and get some exercise at the indoor playground. Indoor playground is parent lead/participatory playtime for children ages 6 months - 6 years with toys, climbing equipment and a popular colorful parachute that all contribute to the healthy development of all ages. Children must be accompanied by a parent at all times. This program is run on a drop-in basis, admission is first-come first-served.
