WELCOME

Accept the MacEwan Sport and Wellness fitness challenge this winter and change your life forever! During the month of January, the more times you work out, the more times you can enter our annual Work out and Win contest. The winner receives a vacation getaway voucher, and let’s be honest, who wouldn't want to escape the snow this year? More importantly, you could be adding years to your life by making exercise a daily habit. Being active is easy; there are many ways to make physical activity a part of your daily life - at home, at school, at work, at play and on the way. The trick is to just get started, and what better place than here at MacEwan Sport and Wellness? Our staff consists of highly trained experts who can help you find just the right fit. For some, it may be taking part in our registered programs, such as our Master Swim, Kickboxing, Yoga, Zumba, Aqua Zumba, Tai Chi, Triathlon Training, Pilates, Bootcamp, Weight Training for Women or good old fashioned swim lessons. For others, it might be participating in one of more than 30 "free with membership" Value-Added classes that we offer weekly. Recreation has great programs running this winter designed to get you up and active during the cold and snowy months. Learn II's in snowboarding, cross country skiing and snowshoeing allow you to get exercise, while enjoying the winter wonderland that is Alberta. Not to mention our intramural programs, Valentine's Volleyball Tournament and Zombie Apocolympics! Not sure where to start at all? Let me highlight four options for you: 1. Book a session with one of our trainers. It is often the best way to develop a plan to get active, jumpstart your training for a specific season or event, or challenge yourself to a new level on your journey. Having a specific plan designed just for you makes it easy to stay on track and feel confident in what you are doing.

2. Book a Polar BodyAge assessment to discover your strengths and determine your training needs. Then re-book a few months later for a re-assessment. It can be exhilarating for you to see how far you've come, often in a relatively short period of time. 3. Attend our Preview Days, January 11th and 12th, and try out a variety of our programs for free so you can see which of our activities work best for your lifestyle. 4. Try our new Lifestyle Makeover class, beginning January 24th, and overhaul your fitness and nutrition regimen in eight weeks. Instead of watching reality TV, turn your own life into the reality you want. Are you ready to take the plunge? Physical activityguidelines suggest adults require 2.5 hours ofmoderate to vigorous physical activity per week, and children and youth up to 17 require 1 hour perday. Let us help you meet – or exceed – theseguidelines on your way to becoming your best you.Take the challenge and let's get active togetherthis winter. As always, we look forward to working alongside you. Sincerely, Lisa PittetSenior Manager, MacEwan Sport and Wellness
