Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the Tapestry workshop on Monday to discuss the online assessment tool. We hope you found it a useful session and were able to gather a

greater understanding of how the tool works and how we can use it to further support your child’s learning journey together. Ms Mark will be piloting Tapestry, along with the parents in Newton class, for the next few weeks. Once we have gathered some feedback from them we will then be in a position to roll out the online access for parents of pupils in Curie and Maxwell classes. Periodically we will use the newsletter to ask for your help in gathering information about your child in a specific Early Learning Goal strand but will also welcome any ‘Wow’ moments that you capture and want to upload.

Reception pupils follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. There are 17 areas of learning and development by which we track your child’s progress. It is expected that Reception pupils will reach a Good Level of Development across the 17 Early Learning Goals (ELGs) by the end of the Reception Year. A detailed breakdown of the 17 Early Learning Goals can be found on INA’s website under the ‘Community’ tab – Resources for Parents – Reception Early Learning Goals.

Enrichment Learning The enrichment programme has been going really well this half term and it is evident that the children are having lots of fun. Here are a few lovely moments captured over the last few weeks during some of the enrichment clubs. The letter for your child to choose their club for next half term has been put in your child’s book bag. Could you please return the form, letting us know your child’s choices by Tuesday 13th October. Failing to hand the form in on time could result in your child missing out on his/her preferred club.

Composer of the FortnightEvery fortnight the children will be introduced to the music of a chosen music composer. For the last two weeks the pupils have

been listening to music composed by Benjamin Britten, since we have named one of our Year 1 classes in his honour. Over the course of the year the children will be exposed to a wide range of

composers and their music.

"We build too many walls and not enough bridges.” Isaac Newton BRIDGES are habits of mind or learning characteristics that develop a pupil's character and learning power and enable him/her to grow into a well-rounded individual and resilient learner.

There are seven BRIDGES habits that we will be working on, which will rotate on a weekly cycle throughout the year. The BRIDGES habit of the week will always be introduced at the beginning of the week during the Monday assembly and reinforced throughout the week across the curriculum. Each class teacher will award a certificate to a pupil that they feel has demonstrated the BRIDGES focus for the week.

Each week we will update you on the BRIDGES habit that will be introduced in the coming week and offer some top tips on how to reinforce the habit at home too. Please also refer to the Primary BRIDGES wheel above
