MessageoftheCOOWe have completed the first half of the year 2009,Alhamdulillah,andyourBankcontinuestoperformwellunderthegivencircumstances. Theeconomicoutlookisdifficult,withlowGDPgrowthrateandhighinflation,buttheAgricultural Sectorcontinuestoperformverywellas a result we have been able to sustain the negativegrowth experienced by the manufacturing sector. Ouroutlookforthesecondhalfoftheyearremains'cautiouslyoptimistic';thestockmarketshaveshownsomesignsofrecovery and the political scenario also appears to besteadyforthemoment.Thefinancialcrisisthattheworldhaspassedthroughandisstillexperiencinghasmadeusrealizethatonlytheefficientandwell-managedbankswillsurviveandsucceedinthetimesaheadanditisuptousas a team to collectively work towards maintaining ourposition as leaders, both in our cause and in IslamicBanking.Alhamdulillah,weachievedourtargetofexpandingournetworkto166branchesin2008andwillInsha'Allahcontinueonthispathofgrowthintimestocome.Theinvestmentinthebranchnetworkisnowpayingdividendsand contributing strongly in deposit mobilization. Effectiveservicequalityisafunctionofourdesireandwillingnesstogivethe'best'service.Againthisisacollectiveeffortanditisuptotheseniorstocoachandmentorthosemorejuniortoimpressuponthemtheimportanceandneedforservicequality.
