CIS 355 ISAF Data Exchange
Resolves the point to point spaghetti Favours Configuration over Programming Single point of:
configuration, administration, monitoring, & diagnostics
C = n(n-1) / 2 Makes Difficult:
Overall System Administration Diagnose faults Disaster Recovery Reliability, Scalability Auditing & Tracking
Stovepipe Systems Not reliable or resilient
Increasingly complexad-hoc connections
Structured, flexible. Scalableinteroperability approach
Let’s consider a bus approach

New ways of doing business
NATO UNCLASSIFIED 16
The way we need to work…Short delivery cycles (6-9 months)
Smaller sets of requirements
Engage contractors much earlier
Focus on COTS integration & testing
Lightweight deployment processes
Integrated projects
More teamwork across Agencies and nations
Focus on delivering real value to the warfighter
And in closing … … a little expectation management
NATO UNCLASSIFIED 17
This is an extremely complex set of tasks Accordingly, we plan to move cautiously… …this is why we are using the incremental approach
We will not “solve world hunger” with these projects Achieving true NNEC capability for operations will take much more work Other project MUST carry their share of the load Tight budgets = smaller capability delivery
There are many risks associated with these efforts Projects with many interdependencies have a higher probability of failure
Your input and support are essential for success From the beginning, we will need your support and guidance!
