Deconstructing my magazine

Mast-Head At top of the page, bold and stands out so it is clear what the magazine is called, always the same so it is easily recognized by the public. It is in a large font so it is eye catching. This follows the conventions of other music magazines as shown on the magazine next to my own.

Main Image My magazine follows the conventions of a music magazine with the main image because the main image on my magazine is in the centre of the page so it stands out more than any other article and the audience is immediately drawn to the image which attracts them to the magazine. Also I have used good looking people on the front

Main Article My magazine follows the conventions of a music magazine with main article because the main article on my magazine is bigger than other articles on the cover which makes the audience more drawn to the main article. Also the main article is connected to the main image. My magazine follows very similar conventions to the magazine shown next to mine. Pull Quote This draws

attention to the reader so they will want to read more. This is not on the magazine shown next to my own however it is on many other magazines similar to my own.

Barcode, Date, Issue Number This is on most magazines including my own. Barcodes and dates are especially important because it is an easier way to identify the magazine.

Other Articles These surround the main article but are smaller. They are usually down the sides of the page so they do not draw more attention than the main article.

Flash – Lere This is something free or to win. On my magazine I have used ‘Win’ to attract my audience to buy my magazine because there's something in it for them. Not all magazines have this but others do.
