Murrimboola Learning Community – CAPA
Night Two weeks ago, students from the Murrimboola
Learning Community – Murrumburrah High
School, Murrumburrah Public School, Binalong
Public School and Bunyip Pre-School – com-
bined to put on a spectacular show at the High
School. The crowd was entertained by singers,
dancers, musicians and performers in an event
that highlighted the many and varied skills of our
students. It was a fantastic evening. Congratula-
tions must go to all those students who played a
part – backstage, front of house, props, catering
and performers - in the lead up to the event and
also on the night. It was indeed a team event.
Once again, congratulations to all those in-
volved.
Murrumburrah Harden Show Congratulations to all those students who par-
ticipated in, or had their work displayed at the
Show last weekend. Despite poor weather on
the Friday, the show allowed the school to dis-
play its many talents.
School Leaders 2018 I would like to take the opportunity in our final
newsletter for this term to publicly acknowledge
the School Captains for 2018. Jed Hodson and
Sharni Manton have been elected as Captains of
the School, whilst Haylee Allen and Rory Fogg
take on the Vice Captains role. Congratulations
to these four young people. I look forward to
the opportunity to work with them over the
next twelve months for the benefit of the school
community.
Transition Program On Tuesday 17th October and on Thursday 2nd
November we will be holding Orientation days
for students from Murrumburrah Public School,
Binalong Public School, Jugiong Public School and
Trinity entering Year 7 at Murrumburrah High
School in 2018. These two days will allow Year 6
to develop some familiarity with Murrumburrah
High School, its procedures and the programs
offered.
At the same time we will use the two days to
continue our planning to ensure we are well
prepared for the start of next year and have
procedures in place to accommodate the individ-
ual needs of each child.
Have a good holiday This is the last newsletter for this term. I trust
the holidays go as planned and you take the
opportunity over the break to recharge your
batteries and return ready for a busy Term 4.
School will resume on Monday 9th October for
staff and students
Enjoy. John McFadyen

Cootamundra Girls Tackle Day
On a bright and sunny morning on the 20th September, four young budding art students embarked on a trip to our nation’s
capital to attend the National Gallery of Australia and the Portrait Gallery. Madeline Hartwig, Riley Southwell, Abbey Wade
and Liz Shorrock all piled into the car and headed to Canberra to be wowed by the current exhibitions and permanent col-
lections, including the infamous and very expensive Jackson Pollock, Blue Poles.
First stop the National Portrait Gallery, where the Nicholas Harding Exhibition was in full swing. The Australian Artist had 28
works of famous Australians all staring demurely off into the distance posing for the artist. The permanent collection had a mixture of both photographs and paintings, the paintings that were larger had more impact demonstrated by a “wow” each
time we walked into the different spaces.
The National Gallery of Australia next on the list. We walked up to the second level and saw artists such as Lichtenstein,
Warhol, Pollock and Kiefer who are big names in the art world and adds significant weight to the galleries collection. The
girls were impressed with all the works they saw.
Wrapping up by about 2pm we all were tired and got back into the car and headed home.
