DESIGN BRIEF
going reverse…
A designer needs to be aware of his/her surroundings…the immediate
environment, for its always been the source of design inspiration. As a
designer myself, I am aware of the on-going climatic changes in our
environment, which are result of our neglect and by-product of our urban
lifestyles. We are feeling suffocated and tangled up in our own created
web…..it has now subsequently triggered the desire to reduce our superficial
and materialistic lifestyle to ways which are attuned to our natural
environment….that can help us build a sustainable future..
People are becoming aware of their subsequent environment and are thus
becoming socially responsible towards it. The focus is now how we can
help re-build the degrading environment and chart out ways of living a
sustainable lifestyle.
For now I believe, it is time to reverse back into the mother nature....trying
to rebuild a healthy relationship between nature and our urban lifestyles.
I have tried to capture this journey, “going reverse” in three stages . To
interpret the first stage, I have used bold geometrical patterns and solid
colors in contrast to the organic and understated look of the third stage,
which is relating to sustainability.. The second stage is the time when the
transformation takes place…as we are getting closer to mother
nature…..culmination of nature and technology takes place. The forms from
this theme are a fusion of geometrical and organic shapes.
I have designed a home range for my client, John Lewis, UK-based high-end
departmental store. John Lewis is one of the leading home furnishing brand
in UK , who has also started its own range of home products both value-
based and sustainable keeping in mind the changing consumer needs.
Product range includes cushions, throws, room divider, rug and coasters.

PRODUCT RANGE
DESIGN CONCEPT FOLLOWED FOR THE
FINAL PRODUCT RANGE
By taking advantage of the characteristics of the felt, I have designed
these simple products. The felt pieces are being laser cut to achieve the
desighn/shape. It is the result of the desire to create a fabric surface itself
rather than using a fabric as a base for ornamentation.
The concept of “interlocking” proves to be sustainable as well. The
execution of this design requires no use of adhesives or stitching.
Each felt piece can be connected up/down/right/left to create a textile
surface. SCREEN/THROW design can be used in interior design, as
fashion accessories and for illumination applications. The usages are
limited only by your imagination.
The resulting textile surface was designed to create an open/ airy design
that is simple and striking on its own and when utilized in large numbers
has a permeability and openness that makes it ideal room dividers,
screen, throw etc.
It is so versatile that you can use them for partitions, coasters, and other
decorative purposes.
