Dear Mortimer, I love second grade because I like the activities. My favorite subject is P.E. because it is just like recess. We do a lot of things like reading and activities. I like being a second grader because it is fun. What do you do? Sincerely, Sophie Dear Sophie, What is your favorite thing to do in P.E.? Do you play sports or games? You’re lucky that you get to go to the big gym for P.E. It’s huge! You must have so much room to run around and have fun! I think being a second grader sounds really neat. I love to read too and wish I could join you when you do activities. What sorts of activities do you do?

Many Moose Hugs, Mortimer

This September 2nd grade began working on Fay Primary School’s very own school newspaper! Meeting several times a month for special newspaper workshops, 2nd graders have learned a great deal about all that goes into the making of a newspaper: from writing captions, to taking action photos, to writing informative letters to interviewing important people. After months of hard work, we are proud to release our first issue! We hope you enjoy reading about all of the wonderful things that are happening at Fay School- particularly in 2nd grade!

The focus of our first workshop was on writing captions for photographs. Second graders are lucky to be working on the newspaper with our very own expert on all things publishing- Mrs. Sullivan-who can often be seen around campus snapping photos, and who is also responsible for writing many of the articles (and captions) that can be found in various Fay publications. Students were asked to think about how much information a photograph, paired with a short yet informative caption can provide readers. We practiced writing captions for some of Mrs. Sullivan’s photographs, keeping in mind that informative captions answer three important questions:

1. Who is in the picture? 2. What is happening? 3. Why is it important?

For this edition 2nd graders are not only responsible for the captions, they are also the photographers! We hope you enjoy their beautiful work and that you are able to learn something about the goings- on in the classrooms here at Fay!

Dear Mortimer, Here are some things you need to know about second grade. If you were in second grade you would have a lot of friends and you will also have great teachers. My favorite subject is P.E. because I get to run around and get all my energy out. I also have another favorite subject: it is recess because I can play with my friends. How do you write? I love second grade because I am a role model and I get to learn more. I like being a second grader because we have work. How is your time in Fay School? I hope you learn a lot even if you don’t go all over the school. It is really fun to be in Fay School. Do you like your name? Well, I like your name. Is it fun to stay in Fay School? Do you go somewhere during the summer or do you stay here? What do you do during the summer and weekend? What do you like better?

Love, Emma Dear Emma, Second grade sounds like a lot of fun. I would love to be a role model just like you. Writing is difficult for me because I don’t have any fingers-which would be helpful when holding my pencil, but I love to do it! I try my best to use my hooves, but sometimes I ask Ms. D’Eramo to help me out. (She has hands and fingers just like you so it is easier for her to write.) I like to type on the computer too, but it is hard with such large feet. Sometimes I accidentally press down more than one letter on the keyboard at a time and it looks like this: rtdgrvc! I love my time here at Fay School- thanks for asking! I love all of the friends that I have here and love when they stop by to say hello! I also love to learn, and I can do a whole lot of that here. During the school year I usually stay here at Fay on weekends and catch up on my sleep. School is really fun, but it makes me awfully tired. Sometimes I go up to the library on Saturdays and find my favorite books and read all day. Do you know the book “If You Give a Moose a Muffin?” It’s one of my favorites. In the summer I sometimes stay here to help Ms. D’Eramo and Mrs. Bishop, but I also take a few vacations. I love to camp in the woods and visit some of my Moose friends. We like to play tag and go swimming in the river. Thanks for your letter!

Many Moose Hugs, Mortimer P.S. I do like my name because it starts with M and so does the word Moose. When I write my initials it looks like this MM for Mortimer Moose. It reminds me of M&M’s which is my favorite candy! Yum!!

Dear Mortimer… Learning about Letters In our second workshop 2nd graders learned that letters are full of information. Letters are often found in newspapers and magazines and contain information about how one thinks or feels about a particular issue or topic. For our newspaper 2nd graders have written letters to Mortimer, (our school mascot) telling him all about 2nd grade! Mortimer was so pleased to receive so many wonderful letters he decided to write back to every single one!

Dear Mortimer, We love second grade because we are writing a lot more. We can read chapter books. I love art a lot because we are doing hard things. I have a question for you- Are you feeling happy? Thank You,

Alexandra Dear Alexandra, Thank you for writing to me! How exciting that you get to write and read more in second grade. Reading and writing are two of my most favorite things to do! In answer to your question- I am feeling VERY happy. Ms. McNally just delivered the letters that you and the rest of the second graders wrote to me and they made me feel so special. As Ms. McNally probably told you, I was very interested in what goes on in second grade and I am so happy that you took the time to tell me!

Many Moose Hugs, Mortimer

Dear Mortimer, My name is Dylan. I am in second grade. Second grade is the funest grade ever. My favorite classes are art, math, science, writing and library. I have some questions for you. What is your favorite food, classroom, and teacher. Love, Dylan Dear Dylan, I’m glad you like second grade! I would love to be a second grader just like you. You have a lot of favorite classes! I guess that means that you love school! I love school too.

Thank you for all of your questions! I am a herbivore just like my other moose friends so I eat a lot of plants and fruit… and when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. I’m a smaller moose, but most grown moose are quite big and need lots of food to keep them healthy and strong.

My favorite classroom is the room where you all eat lunch and where I always smell delicious things, because I love to eat! Is that a classroom? I think it should be because I would love to learn about food!

My favorite teacher is Mrs. Bishop because she teaches me things everyday. She brings me outside in the mornings so that I can meet new friends as they arrive at school, she tells me what everyone is learning in their classrooms, and sometimes she helps me with my spelling when I am writing letters. Many Moose Hugs, Mortimer P.S. I love the drawing you did on the back of your letter! Thanks!

Dear Mortimer, Open circle is when we talk about the good things that are

happening and the bad things that are happening. I love second grade because I get to read every morning. What do you like to do? From, Chris Dear Chris, Open circle sounds like a really great part of your day. I hope I can come to an open circle sometime this year. Do you think you could ask your teachers for me? I’m glad you like to read. I like to read too. I read everyday. In the morning I like to read the Newspaper and keep up to date about the interesting things that are happening all over the world. In the afternoons I like to sneak around the Primary School and listen to all of the stories that the teachers are reading to their students. What is that book you are reading in Library? It sounds really funny! Finally, at night I like to fall asleep reading one of my favorite bedtime stories. Have you ever read the book called “Making the Moose Out of Life?” You should check it out the next time you go to Library. It’s one of my favorites.

Dear Mortimer, I like being in second grade because we have open circle. My favorite

subject is Spanish. What is it like being fluffy? My favorite special is music. I like the classroom library. From, Josh Dear Josh,

Hola! Muchas gracias por la carta! I am learning Spanish too! I love being able to talk to my Moose friends that speak Spanish. What a beautiful language! Don’t you just love the way it sounds? It’s like music to my moose-ears. Speaking of sounds…I sometimes hear lovely sounds coming out of the music room during the day. Is that you singing? What do you call those instruments that you play? I love the sound they make. Sometimes when I am taking my mid-morning nap your beautiful music lulls me to sleep! Being fluffy is great. I never need a blanket because my fluffy fur keeps me nice and warm!

Student Interviews An Interview With… In the final workshop for our first issue of Moose Magazine 2nd graders learned about interviews. By watching Mrs. Sullivan interview Ms. McNally, 2nd graders learned the importance of taking notes so that the information shared during the interview could be easily recalled. 2nd graders then learned how to turn these notes into an article. We all had fun getting to know one another better…we hope you do too!

Dear Mortimer, Second grade is a blast to space! I love second grade because I don’t have that much homework. Well, just for now… My favorite special is P.E. with Mrs. Qua. I like being a second grader because I have two good teachers, Ms. Barnett and Mrs. Benson. Hey Mortimer, how is it being like a moose? From, Brady Dear Brady, Second grade most definitely sounds like a blast to space! I’ve never been to space, but I would love to go some day. I think it would be neat to see the earth from that far away. I bet it looks really beautiful. Would you ever want to travel into space? Speaking of space, Mrs. Bishop showed me the video of your play about space from last year. I loved it! You are all very talented actors! I wonder if there will be a part for me in your play this year… what do you think? I have a great singing voice! I love being a moose. First of all, I always stay warm with my thick fur coat. It’s nice and soft because I comb it often and so my friends here at Fay love to come by and pet me, which I love. My fur can be itchy sometimes so it’s nice to get a nice back rub once and a while. Being a moose is also pretty cool because I have four legs instead of just two like you. Do you have any idea how much fun it is to play soccer with four feet? It’s a blast. Many Moose Hugs, Mortimer

Dear Mortimer, What is your favorite thing to do? My favorite thing to do is play soccer. I also love, love second grade. What is your favorite grade? Mine so far is second grade. I love Language Arts because I love to write. From, Morgan Dear Morgan, I love soccer too. Where do you play soccer? At recess? Or somewhere outside of school? I play soccer on the weekends with some of my animal friends that live in the area. We use the field behind the Primary School, out by the playground. Do you know that one? I like to play goalie because I’m big and my body fills up most of the goal when I stand in front of it. It makes it really hard for the other team to score! I’m not sure I can decide what grade is my favorite. Second grade sounds like a lot of fun, but I also think first grade, Kindergarten and Pre-K do some fun things too! Have you seen their dramatic play areas? I love to dress up and play with friends! It’s fun pretending to be someone or something else! It’s just like acting, which I love to do! Many Moose Hugs, Mortimer

Dear Mortimer, My favorite subject is P.E. because you get to run around and play games! I like being a second grader because if you fill up the marble jar you get to have 15 minutes of extra recess. How do you like living downstairs? Love, Tyler Dear Tyler, 15 minutes of extra recess!? Wow! That sounds like fun! What is your favorite thing to do at recess? I wonder if you ever get to play with the marbles in the marble jar. I love playing marbles with my friends. I collect marbles. Did you know that? I like how they come in all different sizes and colors. I have one that is red and white, just like the Fay colors! I have just about every color now, but I am looking for an orange one. They’re harder to come by than blue or green. I have a ton of those. I love living downstairs! I like Ms. D’Eramo and Mrs. Bishop a whole lot, so I spend a lot of my time with them. I also love to meet new visitors to Fay, so I’m often standing right by the door to greet them and say hello! One of my favorite things about downstairs is the fireplace. Have you seen it when it is on? I like to cozy myself up close to it at night during the winter and read stories. Mmmm! I can feel the warmth of the fire on my fur now!

Many Moose Hugs, Mortimer

Dear Mortimer, I love second grade because we get to do a lot of fun things. Second grade is the best grade ever. I like being a second grader because all my teachers are really nice! What are your teacher’s names? Love, Casey Dear Casey, I’m so glad you like second grade so much! I like your teachers too. It seems like you do a lot of interesting things in second grade. The other day I saw you all leaving school in the morning with your teachers. Just about everyone was wearing jeans, which I know is different from what you normally wear to school. Where were you going? Was it a field trip? I’ve always wanted to go on a field trip. Everyone in the Primary School is my teacher. I know that sounds like A LOT of teachers (and it is), but I learn things from everyone here, especially the students! They’re always telling me about what they are learning. I love learning something new!

Interview with Sophie, by Harry I interviewed Sophie on Tuesday morning. In PE she likes to play tag games, and she likes to play on the playground.

Dear Mortimer, I love second grade because it’s fun. What is your

favorite color? How do you write? I like P.E. because I get to run. I like being a second grader because you’re the leader of the whole primary school. Love, Yasha Dear Yasha, I actually have two favorite colors… and I bet you can guess what they are. RED and WHITE, of course! Did you guess that? It’s because those are Fay’s colors and I just LOVE Fay! I love Founders Day when I get to see everyone dressed up in their team colors, having lots of fun competing in all of those field games! I’ve never participated in a P.E. class, but I’m sure I would like it. I like to run too. I can run really fast. Can you? I think it’s neat that you like being a leader of the Primary School. I bet a lot of younger students look up to you. Do you set a good example for them? That’s an important job! I remember when I was just a little moose, I used to watch the older moose and try and act just like them.

Dear Mortimer, Here are some awesome things you need to know about second grade! Second grade is a fun place. You can learn a lot of stuff like time and reading and math and addition and subtraction. Also you can learn about maps. We also do star of the week. We also have a jobs board. I would also like to learn some things about you, Mortimer! What’s your favorite place in school? From, Charles Dawson Dear Charlie, Wow! You are right, there are a lot of awesome things about second grade. I would like to know more about telling time. It must be very useful to be able to tell what time it is. Mostly I just look out the window to see where the sun is in the sky. If it is just getting light out and the sun is still low in the sky, I know it is time for my breakfast. If it is way high up in the sky, then it’s lunchtime! And if I see it getting dark out and the sun is sinking towards the trees, I know it is time for my dinner, bath, and bedtime. Simple as that! My favorite place in school is right by the door near Ms. D’Eramo and Mrs. Bishop’s offices. From there I can see everything that goes on! I can see who is coming into the school and keep track of who is leaving. It’s the best place to say hello and goodbye to everyone, which I love to do!

Dear Mortimer, Second grade is so much fun. My favorite special is Language Arts. I also like math! I like your chain- it sees all of the people that walk by you. Have a nice day. Love, Julia Dear Julia,

Thanks for your letter! I’m having a great day! Are you? I like my chain too. It’s fun to have something decorative hanging around my neck. It makes me feel fancy and all dressed up for school! Do you ever wear anything fancy for school? How about a necklace, like me?

Many Moose Hugs, Mortimer

Dear Mortimer, Here are some things I like about second grade. My favorite subject is Language Arts and Math and Reading. I like being a second grader because we are the oldest kids in the building. What do you like to do in school? Sincerely, Elise Dear Elise, Wow, you sure like a lot of things about second grade! That’s fantastic! I love language arts and reading. I like math too, but sometimes it’s hard when I need to count on my fingers…mostly because I don’t have any. Do you ever count on your fingers when you do math? I bet they are super helpful tools. I have four legs and sometimes I use those to count, but it gets tough when I need to add anything greater than four.

I like to see my friends in school, that’s why I like being here so much- there are so many wonderful people! I also like to learn new things in school. It seems the more I know, the more I can do!

Dear Mortimer, My favorite subject is P.E. ! I like to be in P.E. because I get to play sports! I can’t wait until fifth grade! Are you really alive? I doubt you are.

Your Friend, Nathan

Dear Nathan, OF COURSE I’M ALIVE. I’m writing to you, aren’t I? How do you suppose I’m doing that? It’s okay if you don’t believe me though. Before I met humans for the first time I used to see pictures of them in my books, and I didn’t think they really existed because I never saw one in real life. But they do exist! I remember the first time I saw a human…I couldn’t believe my moosey-eyes! A lot of people doubt that I am alive. I think it’s because I sleep with my eyes open. You may have seen me not moving a few times but that’s probably because I was asleep. Do you move when you’re asleep? Moose aren’t nocturnal like owls are, but I like Fay School at night because as I wrote to Tyler, I love to stay up late and read books by the fire in the dining room. I also like to visit all of the classrooms at night and see the beautiful artwork that has been added to the walls. I learn a lot from reading the work you have done during the day. All of this activity late at night however takes its toll and I often have to catch up on my sleep during the day. I’m a pretty heavy sleeper when I do doze off, so it’s tough to disturb me.

Dear Mortimer, I love second grade because I have very nice friends. I bet you do too. My favorite subject in school is P.E. because we get to have tag game Friday. We also have math game Friday. My teachers are very nice. What is your favorite thing in school? I like being a second grader because it is fun. Love, Hana Dear Hana, I DO have nice friends! Many of them are here at Fay- I think you might know some of them! I’m glad you have nice friends too. Good friends are important! I have heard a great deal about P.E. because a lot of students LOVE it, but I have never heard of ‘tag-game Friday!’ Wow! That sounds like so much fun! Fridays sound like they are really special days. I like math games too. I wonder if you could make up a game that was a tag and math game together! Now that would be my kind of game! Choosing my favorite thing about school is hard- I love so many things. I agree with you though that school is fun. I’m always learning something new, and playing fun games, and eating yummy things at lunch! School, especially Fay, is such a wonderful place, don’t you agree?

Dear Mortimer, Here are some things I would like you to see: the reading area, the jobs board and the library in 2A. These are my favorite subjects: Spanish, Art and P.E. We usually have a read aloud. Each C day we have open circle. Open circle is a time when we get together and talk about friendship. Love, Maren Dear Maren, Thanks for inviting me to see all of those great things in 2A! I was just up there last night. I love the reading area and the library. I didn’t know each classroom had its own special library! How cool! You are lucky to be surrounded by so many good books. I love to read. What are you reading right now? Do you have a favorite series? I like Ivy and Bean. I just finished the one about fossils a few weeks ago. Have you read that one?

I like that you get together as a class and talk about friendship. Friends are important, and being a good friend is even more important. I have a lot of good friends. I’m sure you do too!

Dear Mortimer, In second grade my favorite subject is math because I get to do all my favorite stuff like addition and subtraction. My teacher is Mrs. Barnett- she is really nice. On Fridays we have math games Friday. It is where we get to join the other class and get to play all different games. We have Mancala, exchange to 100, Topit and pattern blocks. What game would you like to play? Love, Olivia Dear Olivia,

ALL OF THEM! I would like to play all of them with you! I love math and I love games! Math Games Friday sounds like it would be a lot of fun. That is so neat that you get to join the other second grade class and play games together. Do you play with the same people every Friday? Or do you switch who you are playing with? I wonder if I’d be any good at the games you mentioned. I used to play Mancala in the woods with my raccoon friend before I came here to Fay. We used to dig holes in the dirt to make the board and then collect rocks to use as pieces. It was so much fun!

Dear Mortimer, My favorite subject in 2nd grade is art because we get to use the clay. I like to make things out of clay. We made these really weird things. But it was not messy. From, Ava Dear Ava, I love art too! You seem to make some really interesting things in art class. The hallway leading to the art room is one of my favorites. I love walking down there to check out the new and beautiful artwork that you and your classmates have created. You are all so talented!

I’ve never used clay before, is it sticky? I wonder if it would stick to my fur. I can’t believe it’s not messy. You must be a very careful and skilled artist. Usually when I am being creative more of my materials end up on me than on my paper! It’s tough (and messy) working with hooves and not hands though! Can you imagine what art class would be like if you had hooves like me?

Dear Mortimer, My favorite subject is Language Arts. I like it because I write things. I like the computer game RAZ too because it is so much fun! What is your favorite subject? I love second grade! -Alexandra Dear Alexandra, I like to write too. I was just telling Harry in his letter that I love writing letters to friends. It is so much fun to write to someone and then receive a letter in return. I’m not sure what my favorite subject is. I seem to like all of them! I love to sing, so Music is a fun subject. I love to draw and make things out of clay, so Art is another subject I like. I love to run around with my friends, so P.E. is definitely among my favorites. I love Math because so many fun games have math in them. But as I mentioned before, I also like to write and read, so Library and Language Arts are also some of my favorite subjects. I guess my answer to your question would be… I love every subject!

Dear Mortimer, I love second grade because I like making community houses and making your own town. My favorite subject is social studies. And in second grade you need to make sure you can be responsible enough to follow every rule and make sure you can follow every rule. Sincerely, Kanav Dear Kanav, You got to make your own community!? That is SO cool! What sort of community was it? I wonder what it looked like. What did you make it out of? I like social studies too. Wait until you get to the Upper School… the things that you will learn in social studies is so interesting! I think you will really like it. Second grade sounds like so much fun. Being responsible, I think, is hard sometimes. But I know it is so important! I like following rules. I think following rules is a good way for everyone to be able to learn together and be happy. What do you think? Many Moose Hugs, Mortimer

Dear Mortimer, My favorite subject is P.E. Have you been to P.E. before? I think you would like it. Our P.E. teacher is Mrs. Qua. I also like Art and Science. If you can move you could see my Picasso drawing. Sincerely, Sarah Dear Sarah, I haven’t been to P.E. but I can imagine it is a wonderful part of your day. Many of the letters I received are from students, just like you, who absolutely love P.E.! It sounds like so much fun! I think you are right, I think I would love it! It must be great to be able to get out some of your energy. Sometimes I get tired of standing by the doorway and need to take a break to just run!

I can move actually, and do quite frequently! Perhaps you just haven’t seen me. Your Picasso drawing is beautiful! It looks like you enjoy art in addition to P.E. You sure are talented!

Dear Mortimer, My favorite subject is P.E. because you get to run around and play line tag. I also like Art because you get to paint. I also like Science because you get to do experiments. What is your favorite thing to do? From, Liam Dear Liam,

Line tag sounds like fun! I’ve never played it before, but I play regular tag with my friends all the time! Sometimes we get together on weekends and meet on the fields at Fay to play tag. Have you ever played tunnel tag?..Where you have to make a tunnel with your legs if you get tagged by whoever’s IT? I love tunnel tag because I’m really good at making a great big tunnel with my legs and it’s easy for my friends to scoot through and free me! It can be a bit more difficult (as I’m sure you can imagine) when I have to run through others legs to free them though! I’m quite a bit bigger than my raccoon and squirrel friends and don’t always make it though their legs!

Dear Mortimer, Here are some things you need to know about second grade. It is the best. You have the best teachers. My favorite subject is Language Arts and Library and Art and Reading. What is it like being a moose? Love, Lauren Dear Lauren, Wow! Second grade sure sounds like it is the best! You have a lot of favorite subjects! You must be busy doing all kinds of wonderful things during the day! Being a moose is the best… but being a moose that lives at Fay School is even better! I’m the luckiest moose in the world! I love that I get to stand by the doorway and greet all of the smiling faces in the morning! I love that I have a fur coat to keep me feeling snuggly all day long. And I love that I have antlers to hang decorations on if I’m ever feeling fancy. What is it like to be a person? Many Moose Hugs, Mortimer

Dear Mortimer, I love second grade because it is awesome. My favorite subject is RAZ! Do you know what RAZ is? Well it is a computer game. What is your favorite thing to do? Have a Nice Day! From, Harry Dear Harry, I’ve never heard of RAZ before, but it sure sounds like fun! I don’t have a computer but sometimes Ms. D’Eramo lets me use hers- just like she is now! She is helping me read all of the letters that the second grade wrote me and teaching me how to use my hooves to type the letters I am writing to you! I was telling Emma in her letter that sometimes I get tired when I type because often I have trouble only pressing down one key at a time. My hooves are big and much harder to type with than I imagine fingers would be! I have lots of favorite things to do! Thank you for asking! I love to run around outside on a nice sunny day, I love to sit by the fire in the dining room at night, and I LOVE learning about second grade! I am so grateful for the letters that you and the second grade wrote me! I’m going to have to add letter writing to my list of favorite things to do! I’m having so much fun writing to everyone! You must be tired by the time you get home from school. I know I’m always ready to take a nap in the afternoon. I like Social Studies too! I’ve heard quite a bit about your study of the Wampanoag, it sounds so interesting! Were you in school the day that we had a visitor from the Wampanoag tribe!? I was able to walk by the MPR during his presentation and hear some of the wonderful stories that he told! How cool was the traditional clothing that he showed us? I hear that you are building Wampanoag model villages in class! I can’t wait to visit your room and see them! Many Moose Hugs, Mortimer

Dear Mortimer, My favorite subject is P.E. what is your favorite? I like second grade because I like reading. It is fun because I get to go to the reading center and it gets to read to me and when you are

done you answer questions. Love, Ben Dear Ben, That’s a tough question! I love every subject, though I have to say I do agree with you, P.E. is a lot of fun! I think what I love most about school is that every day is different, which makes things pretty exciting, don’t you think? I like that each day is filled with so many wonderful things that I love! I love the morning at school when everyone is arriving with backpacks, parents, siblings and smiling faces! I love morning meetings, where you get to hear the weather report, and say hello to everybody. I love seeing all of the art in the hallways that you make here at Fay. I love hearing you sing in music, and I love, love, love, listening to the stories that your teachers read aloud to you. I guess you could say that school is my favorite! Many Moose Hugs, Mortimer

Dear Mortimer, I love second grade because I like all of the new art projects we do. Here are things you need to know about second grade: a lot of homework, 1 recess only, and lots of fun. How is your life? Sincerely, Avery Dear Avery, I’ve seen your art projects! Sometimes I sneak into the art room at night so I can get a sneak-peak at what you are working on. You’re a fantastic artist! What is your favorite color? I didn’t realize you got homework in 2nd grade! Wow! You must be extra smart because of it! If homework is anything like school, it must be fun. Do you have to read for homework? I love to read, especially with mama moose, so I’m pretty sure I’d make sure she helped me with my reading homework! Don’t you just love having stories read to you? I like falling asleep to a good story. My life is great! Thanks for asking. As I mentioned to some of your classmates, I love being here at Fay with all of you! I have so many wonderful friends and learn so many things each and every day.

Dear Mortimer, I love to go to Art and Science. In Science we already made bouncy balls. Do you have a bouncy ball? In art we made abstract paintings. Do you like to paint? I’m in second grade. My teachers are Mrs. Walton and Ms. Goodell. I love your fur.

Love, Caroline Dear Caroline, It sure sounds like you have been busy so far this year! Second grade sounds awesome! You made bouncy balls!? Cool! Did you get to test them out in the hallways? I wonder how high they would bounce! I’ve never made a bouncy ball, but I do have one that my dad bought me as a present. Mine is blue and white. What color did you make yours? I’ve seen some of your artwork hanging in the halls. You’re a very good artist! What is an abstract painting? I’d like to try painting one of those sometime! I love to paint. I think having a blank piece of paper to fill with all sorts of colors is so exciting! Where do you hang your paintings when you bring them home? Sometimes I give mine to Ms. D’Eramo to bring home so she can hang them on her refrigerator, and then sometimes I bring them home and give them to mama moose as a present!

Many Moose Hugs, Mortimer P.S. I like your fur too. It always looks so pretty when you wear headbands in it!
