T A B L E OF CONTENTS

The 2016 season was the most fun I’ve ever had playing baseball. I didn’t think

anything could top the American Championship, but winning the Charlottesville Regional and

coming one win away from the College World Series was truly special. Coach Godwin has instilled

a work ethic in us on the field, in the community and in the classroom. Through the donor support of the

Pirate Club members, moments like these will continue to live on. I am proud to be a Pirate. ”

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND 2

Dear Pirate Nation,

Your passion and commitment to ECU Athletics and the Pirate Club is UNDAUNTED! Thank you for your generous support in 2016. Pirate Club members provided an all-time high of $7.8 million in scholarship support of our more than 430 student-athletes. In addition to making direct financial contributions to the Pirate Club, you continue to display your passion and support of ECU Athletics as we continue to be a leader in the non-power five conference schools for football attendance.

Your contributions to the Pirate Club directly fund the scholarships for our more than 430 student-athletes. Now more than ever, our donors have stepped up and provided our student-athletes the resources necessary to compete at the highest level.

Your Pirate Club membership is critical to ECU Athletics and its pursuit of achieving success on and off the field. Please consider giving UNDAUNTED in 2017 by stepping up to the next giving level. Your increased contributions play a crucial role in our quest to develop ECU student-athletes into leaders on and off the field and win championships.

Go Pirates!

In an effort to equitably serve Pirate Club members, a Priority Points System was developed and implemented in 1993 by the Executive Committee of the ECU Educational Foundation, Inc. The Priority Points System determines ranking for season ticket allocation and acquiring tickets to high demand events, such as away games at NC State and UNC, post-season tournaments and championships, bowl games and other special events. It is also used to assign Pirate Club benefits including priority parking and requests for seating upgrades.

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND9

Q: Is my contribution to the Pirate Club tax deductible?A: Yes, the current federal income tax law allows an 80% charitable contribution deduction on contributions to educational institutions. As a result of such contributions, the donor receives preferred seating benefits for athletic events. Contributions which neither directly nor indirectly result in the result of preferred seating rights are fully deductible for Federal income tax purposes. Donors should consult their tax advisors for detailed information.

Q: What are priority points and how are they awarded?A: In an effort to more equitably serve Pirate Club members, a Priority Points System was developed and implemented in 1993 by the ECU Educational Foundation, Inc., Executive Committee. The Pirate Club Priority Points System determines ranking for season ticket assignments and acquiring tickets to high demand events, post season tournaments and championships, bowl games and other special events. It is also used to assign Pirate Club benefits including priority parking and requests for seating upgrades.

For each $100 given to the Pirate Club Annual Fund, the donor will receive two priority points. Points are also awarded to donors who give for continuous years, those who give over $5,000, those who give towards Capital Campaigns, and those who buy season tickets for athletic events. For a complete breakdown of priority points and how to acquire them visit the Priority Points page.

Q: How can I make a payment towards my pledge?A: You may make a payment towards your pledge by logging into your online Pirate Club account, contact the Pirate Club at (252) 737-4540, or by mailing your contribution to

TAX INFORMATION

Q: What is the purpose of the Pirate Club?A: The East Carolina University Educational Foundation, Inc., (Pirate Club) is the fundraising and friend-raising arm of East Carolina University's Division-I athletic programs. Contributors to the East Carolina University Educational Foundation, Inc., are members of the Pirate Club.

Q: How do I join the Pirate Club as a new member or how do I renew my current membership?A: You can sign up online, call the Pirate Club office at (252) 737-4540, contact your local Pirate Rep, or send a request for membership materials to:

ECU Pirate Club 304 Ward Sports Medicine BuildingMail Stop 158East Carolina UniversityGreenville, N.C. 27858-4353

Q: What is the minimum gift required to purchase season tickets?A: All gifts are appreciated. In order to be considered a member of the ECU Pirate Club, donors would need to join at a minimum of $100 (Crew level). However, if you have graduated from ECU within the past four years, you can join the Young Graduate Program and pay as little as $50 to become a member. Please contact the Pirate Club office at (252) 737-4540 or visit the Young Grad page to see if you qualify for a Young Graduate membership.

Q: What are the benefits of joining the Pirate Club?A: Perhaps the greatest benefit of joining the Pirate Club is the understanding that your contribution creates educational opportunities for the student-athletes who represent East Carolina University. In addition, Pirate Club members are given priority on ticket availability and seat locations for all ECU Athletics events. This priority extends to football, basketball and baseball games, bowl games, conference and postseason tournaments and other special athletics events. Also, dependent upon the donors giving level, Pirate Club members receive priority parking for athletics events, recognition in game day programs, and access to pre- and post-game hospitality events and socials.

Q: How do I contact the Pirate Club?A: You may contact the Pirate Club by calling us at (252) 737-4540, email us at [email protected] or visit our office at 304 Ward Sports Medicine Building on the campus of East Carolina University. We enjoy the opportunity to meet with donors face-to-face.

Q: I understand football seating in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium will be reassigned in 2018, please explain this process and how it will affect me as a Pirate Club member?A: The Executive Committee of the ECU Educational Foundation, Inc., voted to begin reassigning seats for football, men’s basketball and baseball every three years starting with the 2015 football season. The advantage of re-evaluating priority seating every three years is that it will help guarantee the integrity and fairness of the Pirate Club Priority Points System and give a donor the opportunity to improve seating every three years based on the priority points he/she has accumulated.

Q: Do Pirate Club members get priority on seats for sporting events?A: Pirate Club members are given priority on ticket availability and seat location for football, basketball and baseball games, bowl games, conference and post-season tournaments, and other special athletic events. The number of season tickets that may be purchased for priority seating is shown on the Gift Level Chart for each level of giving. The Pirate Club Priority Points System is used for the allocation of all seating assignments.

The East Carolina University Educational Foundation, Inc., is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation domiciled in the State of North Carolina. Our Federal Tax ID# is 56-6061192. A contribution that entitles the donor to purchase tickets is 80% deductible as a charitable contribution for income tax purposes, as per IRS code, Section 170 (1). In addition, the IRS has ruled the 80% portion is only tax deductible as a contribution, to the extent that it exceeds the value of any additional benefits the donor may have received. For 100% tax deductibility of a contribution, a donor must decline in writing the right to receive any benefits at the time the contribution is made. Consult your tax advisor for more information.
