Q1. Who would be the audience for your media product?

Hip hop idols

Common brands that stylers and urban groups would wear

Q1. Who would be the audience for your media

product?I think that my magazine is similar to the hip/hop and rap Magazine XXL and the audience that buys the magazine. I also think that in the UK there is a decline in rap magazines that give you the inside on the American rap industry. Also my magazine is a bit different as we concentrate on fashion more than XXL does so this would be our key selling point.

Q1. Who would be the audience for your media

product? The images for my magazine are appropriate for my magazine audience. The pictures are relevant because they show a rap lifestyle feel to the magazine are pictures of real rappers live in concerts.

Q1. Who would be the audience for your media

product?

My magazine will be that magazine that concentrates on fashion and gives ideas and tips on how to interpret and improve your style and fashion. We take clothes shops like Zara, Footasylm and Topman and replace them for high designers brands to give you the inside fashion styles.

There is a big gap in the market for hip hop magazines that also concentrate on fashion as well as music.

Page 6: Media presantation

Q1. Who would be the audience for your media

product?

There is a vast majority of teenagers and elder people in their mid twenties who listen to rap and hip hop music and who are also strongly influenced by the fashion industry. This is why my magazine is aimed at them and it is mainly a men's magazine as we focus more on men's fashion as there is not many magazines which concentrate on men's clothing in depth.

social groups? The particular social group my magazine is aimed at would be those who are in there teenage to mid twenties.

My cover story would aim at a social group who are very influenced by rap and who listen to a variety of rap artists. My cover star is shown as a perfect image of an ideal audiences rap star.

Page 9: Media presantation

Q2 : How does your media product represent particular

social groups? In all three of my products my star looks his part. He has his snapback on which is a popular accessory and also has sunglasses on which gives him the extra edge

The star is the same age as the readers and he is living the dream that they all want, this gives them someone who they can relate to and look up to .

Q2 : How does your media product represent particular

social groups? The clothes that my model is wearing is very appealing to my audience. Its appealing because the genre of my music contains a lot of street and hip hop and hip hop is associated with hoodie and snapbacks and sunglasses.

Q3: What kind of media institution might distribute your product?

Q3: What kind of media institution might distribute

your product?

For my product I would try and make it the rival magazine against XXL. I would do this because I would be selling it in the UK and more British readers would want to read the majority about the British artists and less about the Americans. My magazine would also feature more for the fashion lovers and give them more inspiration.

Page 13: Media presantation

Q3: What kind of media institution might distribute

your product?

My magazine would be a weekly edition. It would sell every Monday and feature music that is going to come out so people know when to buy it. i wouldn’t just have a magazine I would have a website where people could go on and find out anything they want that is featured in my product and could listen to music featured on the magazine.

Q3: What kind of media institution might distribute

your product?

My distributer would be Harris Publications. The reason for this would be that they also distribute XXL magazine which is my style model and also my competitor. The publisher of my magazine also publishes other genres such as horror so when someone read a horror magazine my HTZ magazine would be advertised with it. This would give me the edge over XXL. Also my Brand ‘HTZ’ sell merch such as rings and bracelets which XXL doesn't so this would make mine much more commercial.

I used similar bold headings to make the cover story stand out and replicate a similar look to XXL

I did the same with the masthead and did the same colour scheme however changed it a little by adding a motto underneath it.

Gender:My magazine is aimed primarily at males but could also target females that like the same music and artists. The cover star is a male however doesn't look extravagant, he looks like a normal boy would which is the look my target audience generally prefer. Age:The target audience for my magazine is mainly aimed at teenagers from the age of 16 up to about mid twenties. The cover star is within this age range so the reader can relate and be like him.Genre: The genre is ‘hiphop’ this is portrayed through the cover stars clothes. It is also portrayed through the other stars included in the magazine and through out.

Q.5How did you attract/addressyour audience?

My mast head is similar to XXL and in the same way hides a bit of the mast head However you can still read what the HTZ stands for and what the strapline is. It draws the reader in and makes a big impact on judging the cover.

The word ‘win’ draws the readers attention to the magazine as it shows them that they have a chance to win the free tickets and with Kanye West being a popular hip hop artist this intrigues the readers more and it appeals more to them.

The strapline tells the reader that this magazine is a well known magazine and is well known in the UK.

Page 25: Media presantation

Q.5How did you attract/addressyour audience?

The colours of the magazine work well as they are not too bright and not too dull. This works perfectly for the hip hop genre. The colour gold goes well as in rap gold is a very luxurious colour and is popular with rappers.

The use of extra artists in my magazine means that readers have more to read about and can relate to American as well as British rappers which appeals to many Brits.

Page 26: Media presantation

Q.5How did you attract/addressyour audience?Using pictures

emphases the articles and draws the reader in to flick to the main articles.

By giving the reader offers and discounts, this persuades them to buy the magazine and then subscribe to it.

The use of the gold blocks between the word

‘Features’ makes it stand out. It is also in a different font so that it doesn’t get lost on the

page.

I wanted to make my heading stand out more so I decided to use the stroke tool to add a fill to it.

I used the stroke and effect tool to add some effect to the text, this made the text look bolder and makes it stand out more.

I selected the magic wand tool and then highlighted the HTZ and the box.

Then I selected the brush tool and painted the background red because it is similar to my style piece of XXL.

I then added black and white text by selecting the text tool which had my motto on it. This made my heading a lot different from XXL’s.

Page 33: Media presantation

Q7Looking back at your preliminary

task (Aquinas College magazine),

what do you feel you have learnt in

the progression to the full product?

Page 34: Media presantation

My first Aquinas magazine was very bland and had no colour scheme to it. It was very rushed and did try out any new fonts or text styles. The picture was not cropped using Photoshop as I didn’t know how to use Photoshop. I just took the picture with a white background.

Page 35: Media presantation

This time I improved a lot. For my masthead I used Photoshop to make it look like XXL. I also tested with different fonts to see which would look better. I also learned that the bolder and plain the text is the better it would look.

I used Photoshop to make a promotion sticker. This made the sticker stand out more and made it look more professional. Also by using Photoshop I learnt how to get rid of the background and crop it to just the persons body. This made me gain more room for other text and let me make the picture of Sean bigger.

Page 36: Media presantation

My contents page was better than my first college magazine front cover. It contained more colour to it and more pictures. I used different fonts and different sizes to make the text stand out and look bolder.

The pictures were also not cropped or shaped properly. Everything was not in proportion.

Page 37: Media presantation

My new contents page was the biggest improvement I made. The text was bolder and stood out more. I had a legit colour scheme. I had a bolder heading with a unique design to it.

I had gained the confidence to use Photoshop for my contents page. This made it look ten times better. I could tools such as the magic eraser tool and magic wand tool and I could layer things on top of each other a lot easier. This saved me a lot of time. It made me become a lot more organised through out.
