Loving God, Loving People, Making Disciplemakers One of my disciplemaking friends, Bill Allison, recently shared with me one way to tell the difference between a leader and a disciplemaker. Leaders ask: "What's working?" They’re obsessed with the latest and greatest ministry models or systems— and those who make them happen. Disciplemakers ask: "How can we imitate Jesus' disciplemaking way of life together?" They’re obsessed with the person of Jesus Christ as found in the Gospels—and a deep friendship “with” those who share this obsession. The questions we are asking take us in a direction...to somewhere and someone. Where and to whom are your questions taking you? Kavanah is contagious! In fact, it’s becoming viral. And, these four men are spreading it wherever they go. Kavanah spreads when we combine our intentional actions “with” God’s active presence (the Holy Spirit) as we live out this disciplemaking way of life “with” others. It’s not something we do alone. It’s something we spread when we’re “with” others. We call it with-ness. Jesus modeled with-ness for us with his Twelve disciplemaking friends. Loving God, Loving People, Making Disciplemakers One of my disciplemaking friends, Bill Allison, recently shared with me one way to tell the difference between a leader and a disciplemaker.

Leaders ask: "What's working?" They’re obsessed with the latest and greatest ministry models or systems—and those who make them happen.

It’s

something we spread when we’re “with” others. We call it with-ness. Jesus modeled with-ness for us with his Twelve disciplemaking friends. The five of us have been following Jesus, together since March, spreading to others what we’re learning together. How about you? Do you want to get infected?

“Kavanah” is spreading from East Lansing...

EXPANDING OUR WITH-NESS Starting in January, we’ll begin coaching Lead Pastor John Lowder of Frontline Bible Church in Byron Center, Michigan.

PROF MULTIPLIES WITH-NESS MSU Entomology Prof Mark Whalon is passing on what he’s learning about living a Jesus-like disciplemaking way of life with nearly 20 of his male graduate students.

COFFEE & PIE WITH-NESS...Scott shares the story of MCMD with some of our disciplemaking friends at Grand Traverse Pie Company in East Lansing.

“Haver Learning” Invades Moody Theological Seminary Chapel Service

WHAT DO THEY SAY ABOUT US?

“Through the years, I’ve found that a disciple-making ministry takes tons of prayer, commitment, and intentionality. While on this journey, one of the best investments I’ve made in my ministry has been to partner with Scott Rolff and Dennis Moore...they’ve become an irreplaceable source of prayerful support and godly wisdom.”

“Ministry is rewarding, but can be tough! Through the ups and downs of ministry, they have proven capable and available to assist with the fundamentals of church dynamics, strategy, and the practical implementation of ideas and programming.”

“Not only has MCMD made a positive impact on my vocational ministry, but (also) on my personal life as well. It’s evident (to me) that Scott and Dennis understand that a healthy ministry requires healthy ministers.”

The term “haver learning” may be unfamiliar to you but not these students. During the time of Jesus, disciples experienced a more robust, communal form of learning known as havering. This dialogue-based learning approach focuses on grappling in twos and threes over the application of Scripture and doing life together. Scott and I introduced this learning approach to the 50+ students and faculty attending a Thursday evening chapel service by them “havering” on Deuteronomy 5:1-5 and Romans 1:11-12.

We’re your MCMD missionaries! As Ephesians 4:11-12

missionaries of encouragement and equipping, we live by faith and

trust God to financially provide for our families and ministry with

MCMD. We know we can't take any of this Jesus-like disciplemaking

adventure without God and people who love us, pray for us, and

give to MCMD. Those who partner with us make our ministry

powerful and possible. I have plenty of room on my support team.

For more information about how you can partner with us, email me
