Parish Mission Statement

A Message from Our Pastor Fr. Cesar Ageas

Solemnity of the Pentecost

“All were filled by the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues - - -.”

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Pentecost, also called the birthday of the Church. The feast of the Pentecost is a very ancient feast that goes back 1000 years before Christ. It was one of the three important Jewish feasts. Originally it was a harvest feast. Gradually it came to be a celebration of God giving his Law to the Hebrews at Mount Sinai and establishing them as his own special people. It was as the Jews were celebrating this feast that the Holy Spirit came upon the first believers in Christ. The Second Reading from The Acts of the Apostles provides us the details of the event. Luke, the author of the Acts of the Apostles, writes a small but significant sentence about the Pentecost story. “All were filled with the Holy Spirit - - -.” On that sensational event the apostles individually and the Church collectively became instantly rich with internal spiritual endowments directly from God. The seven-fold gifts were bestowed on this frightened group of believers, calling them to sudden maturity. Their new-found Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety and Fear of the Lord gave the recipients both incentive and ability to unlock the doors and face the world with courage. The Sacrament of Confirmation is often called our personal Pentecost. It is both a call and a sign of spiritual maturity. The Spirit of Pentecost moves us from fear to courage; from weakness to strength; from grabbing to giving. It dares us to live a faith-filled, love-inspired life each day. Pentecost launched a handful of scared people on the voyage of world conversion. O Come Holy Spirit, fill our lives with your precious gifts! God bless, Fr. Cesar

Family Catechism-Catechism of the Good Shepherd We Celebrate with praise to our God for those who received Jesus in 1st Holy Communion today. We pray that they will always stay close to Him in the Eucharist and that they remember to pray and read their bibles every day. We pray for their parents that they will always show by example how important Mass is and frequent the Sacrament of Reconciliation often with their children so they too will have a love for the Sacraments: Congratulations to: Liam Lendewig, Sophia Calvillo, Nick Dean, Yair Martinez, Johnathon Martinez, Jimmy Huckins, Eden Speedie, Clare Uchison, Antony Romero, Edween Varela, Julian Carlos, Nicole Vaca and Adrianna Garcia-Webber.

Year B – Pentecost Sunday Faith and Finances with Phil Lenahan © –

www.VeritasFinancialMinistries.com Today’s second reading alludes to a battle between the Spirit and the flesh. St. Paul says, “These are opposed to each other, so that you may not do what you want” (Gal. 5:17). How we manage money is part of this struggle. Good behavior with money starts with right attitude, and right attitude is formed by Godly principles.
