Parish Mission Statement

"MAKING THE CUT"

"If your hand is your difficulty, cut it off! Better for you to enter life maimed than to keep both hands and enter Gehenna with its unquenchable fire" ~ Mark 9: 43 Several years ago a friend of mine, John, had to change a flat tire on the side of the road at night. While attempting to remove the tire, the jack shifted unexpectedly, and the car fell off the jack pinning his fingers underneath the tire. Because the full weight of the car kept his fingers pinned to the ground, he was trapped. Finally, a motorist stopped and lifted the car enough to let him extract his fingers. John's fingers were his difficulty. Without the "good Samaritan" rescuer, John would have faced two choices, either cut off his fingers so he would be free to live, or keep his fingers and have his whole body die because a small part of it was held captive. If we are a captive in even a small part of our lives, we can be spiritually paralyzed, and headed toward a future in hell. Sin can cling to us and keep us immobile. Are we willing to cut, sever our ties with our habitual sins, artificial contraception, unforgiveness, gossip, anger and all other sins? Does anything else hold us captive? Watching T.V., alcohol, drugs, luxuries, the pursuit of money, overeating, laziness? MAKE THE CUT!!! BE FREE!!! ENTER ETERNAL LIFE!!! As St. Paul said, "I rate all things as rubbish if it separates me from You! God bless you all. Deacon Mike

Christians believe in a personal God--- a God who loves us, has a plan for our lives and wants a personal relationship with us. He loves us so much that he actually seeks us out and makes himself known to us. Questions answered in this session are: Why God’s revelation is essential not just for knowing infor-mation about him, but for our happiness and for our relationship with him. How we can know with confidence today what God revealed to us 2,000 years ago in Jesus Christ. We are just get-ting started this year we are meeting Mondays in the Large Con-ference Room from 6:30-8:00 Please call Katie 530-320-8810 to sign up or if you have any questions.
