Hello everyone I hope that everyone had a lovely long weekend and enjoyed the sunny days and crisp mornings. It is so good to have nearly all of our students back at school. Every student, Every day is our focus for attendance. If we are to help our students catch up the learning they missed because of Covid 19, they need to be at school everyday. Playground Markings Over the weekend our new playground games and activity marking were installed across the playground. It has been a long slow process to make this happen for our students as I applied for a $15,000 grant last year in July. The product was held up in China due to Covid19 and then install was held up due to travel restrictions. The wait was well and truly worth it because the finished product is incredible and has really helped to break up the concrete jungle. The product is guaranteed for 10 years not to lift, fade or peel. I really hope that it will provide a huge amount of fun for all the students during play time and further help to reduce the behaviour problems that have occurred during recess and lunch in the past. Wentworth & Districts Community Bank / Bendigo Bank A huge thank you to WDCB for granting us $10,000 in their community funds program for 2020. This grant will assist us to complete the technology upgrade across the school that we commenced last year. One thing that Covid19 really made obvious to all the staff was the technology gap between what our students have access to and what other public education students at other schools can access. It is vital to ensure our students do not miss out on having a go at online learning tools such as Zoom and SeeSaw, so we will be developing at school programs to make sure we help to close the gap. Covid19 restriction At this stage there is no lifting of restrictions to allow adults back into schools. This means that SaCC and it’s activities, Karate, Music and Assemblies (with parents and guests) will not recommence probably until Term 3. Thank you for your patience and understanding with this. I will let you know as soon as things change. Social Media Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and FaceBook (@Dareton Public School) to see all of the amazing things that your children are doing everyday at school. There are some amazing pics of your children everyday. From Science, to PE, to Barkindji Langauge, to Maths and much, much more. Hello all and welcome to Week 7!

We all hope that you had a wonderful long weekend and enjoyed the extra time with family or friends.

Another big week behind us and another in front. We have been looking at Chance and Data during mathematics. The children have a very good grasp of these topics. It especially helps when you use Smarties as part of the lesson.

During English sessions, we are once again looking at persuasive text. This is when you need to use ideas, thoughts and persuasion to put across your opinion on a specific topic. It’s a great way to ‘have your say, but, you must ‘back-up’ your opinion. This is where the task gets ‘tricky!’ It can be a fun task, as I usually always try to persuade the students to see my way.

The playground markings have happened at school over the weekend and they look … AMAZING!!! What a bright, colourful playground we have now. So many activities and learning opportunities ahead for our current children and for many generations to come.

Again I would just like to remind you all that if you , or your child / children do have any problems, PLEASE don’t hesitate to contact me at school. A problem shared is a problem solved, hopefully. As we continually say, we can’t help if we don’t know there is a problem. The faster they are solved, the faster we can move on.

Last week’s Student of the Week was Missy. Missy is beginning to do work a little more independently. She is gaining confidence and managing tasks without as much adult support. Jaden was one of achievement award winners for his fabulous design in STEAM lessons and Jennifer was the second recipient for also attempting more work independently during class. Well done to all of you, great effort.

As another week passes, we here in Perch Class would like to wish you all a very happy, safe and warm week ahead. Ms Smith Wendy, Lisa and Perch Students.

Goannas Goannas have been showing their strength this week at Dareton Public School! We have started our new persuasive writing topic and have been focussing on finding a good hook to start our speeches. We will be presenting our speeches in Week 8. Our “Wonder” reading group has also been working hard getting through such an amazing story. They are very excited to have guided reading each day because they are able to delve into the world of “Auggie”. In Maths, our Goannas have been looking at data and how it can be put into graphs and tables. Our favourite has definitely been picture graphs. Chenille has been our first Goanna to make it to Level 4 in our Maths X table grid race! Well done! In Language, our Goanna class was treated to a Dreamtime story by Aunty Dellice. We used some of the language from this story to start learning the colours in Barkindji. Always so proud. Miss La Hood, Aunty Courtney and Uncle Will

SaCC families and children had fantastic fun this week making Soapy, Bubble, Glitter Sensory Jars, crepe-paper painting art and of course, our Sprout in a House which we will follow on with in two weeks, once they have started sprouting/growing!! Once again Mallee Family Care Early Years and myself will be back out visiting each of you and dropping your packs off again this week.

Look forward to seeing everyone :)
