PH: 02 4736 1108 Orchard Hills Public School—Self Reliance EMAIL: [email protected] Fencing Our fencing is nearly complete, we are just waiting for one panel to be installed. However it has been deemed safe for the students to access the bottom part of the playground once the temporary fencing has been removed. Break times Currently we have been having staggered breaks during the school day. This will be changing from once the temporary fencing has been removed. So that will mean all students will be having 1 st break between 10:50am to 11:30am and 2 nd break will be between 1:30pm to 2:00pm. We will be trialling having one break for K-2 and one break for 3-6 accessing the bottom playground to assist with supervision and minimising accidents. Soccer Goals On behalf of all the staff and students I would like to say a huge thankyou to Mr Brendan Ward for making the new soccer goals and donating soccer balls to the school. The students thoroughly enjoy playing soccer and utilising the goals. Clothing Pool Donations Thanks to all the families that have been bringing uniforms that their child has grown out of. These uniforms will be placed in our uniform cupboard and can be purchase for a gold coin. Term 2 Week 7 12 June 2020 Reminder As I stated in the last note, could you please send 1-2 drink bottles with your child as they are unable to drink from the bubblers at the present time due to COVID-19. Safety and hygiene practices Due to the current environment and COVID-19 situation our school has been provided with additional hand soap, sanitiser and other medical equipment from the Department of Educa- tion to ensure we have all tools available to keep all students safe. Please remember if your child is unwell, do not send them to school. If your child is unwell whilst at school you or your nominated emer- gency contact will need to collect them immediately. Please make sure your con- tact details are up to date. Reports Reports will be sent out on Wednesday in Week 10. Enrollments for 2021 We have had a number of kin- dergarten enrollments for 2021. Just a reminder to all families that if you have a child who is turning 5 before July 31 st , 2021 they are able to enrol for kin- dergarten next year. We are also accepting enrollments for years 1 to 6 next year from families who live within our lo- cal school intake zone. If you would like to discuss enrolling your child please contact the school office to make an ap- pointment with Mr McMahon.

Parent/Teacher Interviews I am waiting on approval to hold face to face in-terviews on the school grounds, however if this unable to be achieved we will schedule our inter-views for Term 3. We have looked into the possi-bility of holding Zoom Meetings and using other online platforms, however we think there may be some technical difficulties with this. If we are al-lowed to hold face to face meetings this term, I will inform the school community by sending a note home. Car Park As you are already aware our carpark does get quite congested, however with the staggered breaks it has helped reducing this somewhat. Can I please ask that if you are parked on the side of the car park when the church is located, that you cross the car park with your child oppo-site the path that leads you into the school near the canteen. This will hopefully allow drivers to look out for this spot specifically and be alert for any children and families crossing the car park. I will discuss with the church if we may be able to put some pedestrian crossing lines on the road to assist with this. Before and After School Care Thanks to those families that have completed the ‘Before and After School care Survey’ on our Fa-cebook Page. I will also be sending a paper copy home on Monday for any families that do not have access the page. Sanitiser Station On behalf of the students and staff I would like to thank Mr Storek (Jaxon’s father) for donating a hand sanitising station and sanitiser to the school. It will be located at the gate near the can-teen. Happy sanitising! Canteen Volunteers Thanks to the parents and community members who have already completed the survey on our school Facebook Page for volunteering in the school canteen, it is greatly appreciated.
