Brand hiStorY

Hanowa has been pushing the rugged aesthetic since 1963, when it was founded in Bienne, Switzerland, by Hans Noll. In 1990, the brand made this look its signature style with the founding of Swiss Military Hanowa, with an emphasis on robust sports watches at accessible prices.

Since then, the brand, which emanated from Hanowa, has combined Swiss-Made quality with sporty design. The addition of ‘Swiss Military’ epitomise the values of the Swiss military: robustness, endurance and high precision as well as the ability to function in extreme conditions.

Today, Swiss Military Hanowa is OFFICIALLY LICENSED BY THE SWISS CONFEDERATION and globally well established, and has a great expertise in the field of sports, performance and lifestyle watches.

1961 Hans Noll arrives in Biel, Switzerland, to take over the European sales management for amid-sized watch factory.

1963 With a distinct entrepreneurial spirit Hans Noll fulfils his dream and launches his own watch company in Biel-Bienne, Switzerland, with his wife Elisabeth, naming it Hanowa – composed of HAns NOll WAtches.

1966 The brand establishes a reputation for exceptional watch making, including ring watches,pendant watches, clip watches and more.

1970HANOWA quickly gained a reputation for combining outstanding Swiss quality and precision with distinctive designs.

THE CASE

The steel cases and metal bracelets are made of 316 L high-grade steel. SWISS MILITARY HANOWA uses the leading IP (ion plating) technology to coat the watch surface in yellow or rose gold, or in black or gun.

THE MOVEMENT

SWISS MILITARY HANOWA uses only Swiss made quartz or mechanical movements from leading manufacturers in Switzerland. All mechanical watches are equipped with a transparent glass case back, which displays the heart of the watch: the movement.

WATER RESISTANCE

The majority of our watches, with the exception of our extra flat models, are fitted with a screw back, assuring perfect water resistance down to 10 ATM.

SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL

The majority of our watches feature scratch resistant sapphire crystals. Sapphire is one of the hardest substances, registering 9 on the Mohs scale of rating the relative scratch resistance of materials (diamond measures 10).

THE DIAL, THE HANDS

Luminescent hands and/or hour markers on the dial are a standard feature on our watches. SWISS MILITARY HANOWA uses safe “Superluminova” material, allowing for perfect readability and timekeeping even at night.

THE BRACELET

Each metal bracelet is fitted with security clasp that is easy to adjust to the desired length. All bracelets are made of stainless steel, ceramic or titanium.

THE LEATHER STRAP

SWISS MILITARY HANOWA leather straps are made of refined, high quality leather, carefully crafted and specially treated for water resistance.

SWISS MILITARY HANOWA watches are crafted to provide excellent performance and unwavering accuracy. We offer the following advice to keep our timepieces functioning optimally:

Direct contact with any chemical products, as well as extreme shocks and extreme temperatures should be avoided.

Pushbuttons and crown should never be turned or operated under water. Doing so may allow water to enter the watch mechanisms.

All materials used for the production of the SWISS MILITARY HANOWA watches are very durable. They can be cleaned and rinsed if desired with a mild soap and water, and a soft cloth for drying.

After immersion in salt water, rinse the watch in warm freshwater.

Each SWISS MILITARY HANOWA watch has been tested using the most technologically up to date equipment on water resistance. The water resistant property is ensured by different gaskets within the timepiece. These gaskets are liable to a natural aging process and have to be renewed after a certain length of time. Shocks and disruptions to the crown can also affect the water resistance. As a result, the airtight quality of the timepiece cannot be guaranteed for the lifetime of the watch. A regular check on the timepiece will help to maintain the gaskets and the water resistance.

When a battery change is required, make certain the gaskets are inspected properly to ensure the integrity of the timepiece to guarantee water resistance.

Contact with water and dampness, prolonged exposure to sunlight and contact with grassy substances should be avoided to prevent discoloration and deformation of the leather strap.

To group the watches according to product families:

Ladies Sport & Functional Classic

To set watches to local time and date

Place the price tags (pricing) facing outward

Make sure the crown is facing upwards when using C-rings 45 degree (horizontal)

Every Point of Sales MUST carry an Official Agent plate to identify that they are an authorized Agent /Retailer of the brand

Ladies or smaller size watches to be displayed in the front / gents or bigger watches at the back

Maximize the use of C-rings onto display groove lines instead of overcrowding the display with watch stands

Always replace the visuals according to the latest advertising campaign

SWISS MILITARY HANOWA displays have strictly to be used only for SWISS MILITARY HANOWA watches and not for other brands

Maintenance

Always use gloves and a polishing cloth while displaying the watches in order to avoid finger-prints on the watches

A regularly cleaning is very important to prevent dust settling on the displays and watches

The new SHOP-IN-SHOP and Display concept provides customers with a strong visual and emotional connec-tion to the SWISS MILITARY HANOWA brand:

It has been elaborated to enhance the core values of the brand such as Swiss Made, top quality, reliability and robustness.

As basic color, a unique combination of anthracite and metallic in matt finish has been selected to emphasize the dynamic character of the brand. Highlights in the red color of the Swiss cross have been implemented to underline the Swissness fact and decorative metal nubs are used as part of the design to accentuate the performance and top quality attributes of SWISS MILITARY HANOWA.

The cut out and illuminated logos are an important, eye-catching element to enhance the brand awareness. Special attention has also been given to the lighting in- side the vitrines and tested previously to be in the right power to make the watches standing out.

Customization of SWISS MILITARY HANOWA Shop-in-Shop furniture in accordance to the brand concept for local production:
