As you know, the suc-

pends upon many fac-
tors, and parental sup-
port is vitally important!
Please help us to give
your child a quality edu-
cation. Each student
will be given a student
handbook with school
and district rules. Famil-
iarize yourself with the
policies of the school
and help your child un-
derstand why following
these policies are in his/
her best interest.
Attendance is a proven
factor in quality educa-
tion, so please help to
ensure that your child is
at school as much as
possible.
If you have concerns,
and need to speak to a
staff member, there are
forms available in the
office to set up a meet-
ing time.
The faculty and staff at
Marksville High are
looking forward to a
successful 2013-2014
school year. Please as-
sist us by taking the
time to show interest in

As part of Marksville High School’s ongoing school
improvement plan, we are proud to an-nounce the creation of a data analysis protocol and framework. The primary assumption for school improvement ef-forts is that student learning can and should improve on a continuous basis. Throughout the school year, your child will take a series of benchmark tests to see how well they are progressing on academic standards taught in their core classes (math, English, science, & social studies). These benchmark test will take place about every 4 to 8 weeks. Your child will receive a report to bring home
that will show their progression. District and school leaders are guided by a clear vision focused on student learning and the use of data driven instruction to opti-mize student achievement. Marksville High School’s administration wishes to empower our teachers and staff, engage them in purposeful analysis, and guide them in making data-based decisions. The administration of Marksville High School believes that there are many ben-efits to using data driven instruction. Data provides the leadership team with a tool that can be used to explore, analyze and create strategies and goals for the entire school organization. Using data, instructors are able to identify areas in which students need to improve, and
they can thereby adapt instruction and curriculum. Additionally, instructors are able to determine student strengths. Con-sequently, instructors can provide stu-dents with more challenging and rigor-ous classroom instruction allowing stu-dents to exceed their current academic potential. Students are more likely to gain confidence and take responsibility for their education when they are well informed about their achievements and progress toward established goals. The administration of Marksville High School believes by working together, students, parents/guardians, and staff can make Marksville High School an excit-ing and enjoyable place to learn.
this task, we are asking that parents and
guardians make an appointment when
meeting with the administration. This
will allow the administration to spend
time in the classroom; as well as, meet
the concerns of the parents at Marksville
High School. Please feel free to call or
stop by the office and fill out an appoint-
ment form.
This year the focus of the administration
of Marksville High School is supporting
the teachers and students academically.
It is our goal to spend at least 15 minutes
in each teachers classroom per week. By
being visible in the classrooms, students
and teachers will understand how much
we are invested in the success of our
students. In order for us to accomplish
