Wrightwood Records recording artist Marilyn Harris is a singer, pianist and songwriter whose talents have recently been described by L. A. Jazz Scene’s Scott Yanow as “Most impressive...” After studying composition with Hale Smith at UConn and film scoring with Ray Wright and Manny Albam at Eastman School of Music, Marilyn worked extensively with jazz arranger Gil Evans, and studied piano with Richard Tee and Rodgers Grant. Following years as a working studio singer, pianist and arranger she’s emerged with her first purely jazz offering: FUTURE STREET, which was followed by ROUND TRIP. Both CDs featured L.A.'s finest jazz studio musicians, Marilyn's original songs and swingin' arrangements by producer Mark Wolfram. Early in 2011 Wrightwood Records released ORPHANS (Songs Looking For A Good Home) - a diverse collection of 17 original songs, including pop anthems, ballads, country, alternative, smooth jazz instrumental - even a rock song rounding out the playlist. With 72 DAYS (The Kim Kardashian Blues) Marilyn returns to a straight-ahead jazz approach, plying her unique take on the reality TV marriage (and subsequent divorce - after 72 days!) of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humpries. Marilyn’s witty and sarcastic original song is told from the point of view of “The Bride.” As always, Marilyn swings hard, sings beautifully and is supported by arranger and producer Mark Wolfram.
