Adam TownendOUGD303Leeds Loves Creativity / Marketing Leeds Competition BriefBrief 7Board 1/4
The Brief This competition, set by Marketing Leeds, was to design an identity for Leeds Loves Creativity. The new identity had to work alongside existing identities for Leeds Loves Shopping and Leeds Loves Food. There wasn’t so much room for diversity as Marketing Leeds has its own brand guidelines and colour pallette.
The ConceptI designed this logo which incorporated an Ink splat, as it seemed like the most obvious thing to do. I got a feeling that this would appeal to the client in the same way the food and shopping iconography was so literal. I

The Delivery This proved to be what the client was looking for and I won the competition. As part of my submission I applied the logo to a range of banners including one in context. I also suggested a colour pallette using the traditional purple colour of the Marketing Leeds brand, and a new yellow pantone. Pantone

Additional workChloe from marketing contacted me to ask me to create a postcard based on the design I had submitted. They wanted a variation on what I had done already, and they wanted to make the strapline ‘Showcasing Emerging Talent’ as the focus.
The postcards would be used to advertise three degree shows including University of Leeds, Leeds College of Art, and Leeds Metropolitan University. I did six variations with different colour options before Marketing Leeds decided on the orange option.
