• Thought up in 2002 in Reid Hoffman’s (cofounder) lounge room

• Launched May 5, 2003• After one month had 4,000 members• More than 150 million members worldwide• Now more than 2 members added per second

• 3 million members March 2012 in Australia• In 2011 – 4.2 billion professional related searches• Management team now includes staff from
