HELP KEEP YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD BEAUTIFUL!As you have probably already noticed, Lakemont has a very large

common area to maintain with numerous shrubs and trees and large grass areas. The Association would like to commence with a tree trimming project to try and improve street lighting and visibility to promote a better environment for homeowners in the community. During recent visits around the community, we have noticed that children have to walk on the streets due to the trees blocking the sidewalks and drivers have to drive on the wrong side of the road to avoid branches hitting their vehicles. We are constantly working to improve the appearance of our beautiful community and would love to see each homeowner partake on the same mission. We are asking that each homeowner ensure that their yard and street trees are trimmed to provide a six (6) foot head clearance and that no branches obstruct the walk ways or streets. Individual notifications will be sent to homeowners commencing in the beginning of October.

Trick-or-Treating: Do’s and Don’ts

DO…Accompany trick-or-treaters younger than age 12. Encourage older kids to trick-or-treat with a group of friends, parents or older siblings. Make sure someone in the group carries a flashlight with fresh batteries.

DO…Stay close to home. Don’t allow your child to go door to door in an unfamiliar neighborhood.

DO…Set ground rules. If your child will be trick-or-treating without you, establish a route and set a curfew.

DO…Inspect treats carefully. Don’t let your child snack while he or she is trick-or-treating. Discard anything that’s not sealed, has torn packaging or looks questionable.

DO…Turn the lights on at your home if you’re prepared to accept trick-or-treaters.

DO…Remain visible. Dress your kids in a bright costume so others can see them.

DON’T…Be afraid to hand out nutritional snacks instead of candy. Consider individually wrapped packs of raisins, trail mix, or pretzels.

DON’T…Cover the face. Instead of masks, have your kids wear make-up so they can see well.

DON’T…Run or walk in the middle of the street. Be sure to stay on sidewalks, cross the street properly and stay off lawns.

DON’T…Talk to strangers. Tell your kids to never accept a ride or go anywhere with a stranger.

DON’T...Trick-or-Treat after 9:00pm. Try to get started early so your child can be home at a set curfew.

DON’T…Forget to have fun!
