UITGAWE: 6

From a very young age I loved going to church. Somehow I knew that something special happened when believers come

together in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ on a Sunday. It was and still is special to me when we sing, pray and read the

Scriptures together in worship to our God. As a young man I found acceptance, approval and most of all I found love in

the House of the Lord. Now I would like today's youth to find the same virtues in the House of the Lord as I did.

What I want to write in this article is not about the benefits of the church, but what can the church benefit from us. I

believe there are different types of people who go up to the House of the Lord. I will only mention two, the church member and a

son/daughter of the House. Let us look at the difference between the two.

A church member makes a lot of demands and feels entitled to some privileges, and I believe members should benefit from the church, but

that is not the point. A member sounds like: “I want Pastor to do this, the band must play this song, I don't like that, can we change that?

Members are always on the lookout to find fault and they are always right in their own eyes. A son of the House on the other hand, serves in the house. He or she is always asking where can I help? , or is there anything I can do? Instead

of making mention of a problem he is seeking and praying for a solution. For example, something might be broken at church. A son of the

House would ask one of the leaders: “Is there anything I can do to help, I personally might not be able to but I know of someone. And the

member would say: “Why can't these people fix it, after all why do I give money? Ah ha, have you ever found yourself thinking this way?

I have come to witness a lot of things in the church, since I basically grew up in the church. Many people have lost their love for the house of

the Lord. When we look at the church in the book of Acts, they met together daily. Read Acts 2:46, 47. I can only imagine what the

excitement was among the first believers, they could not wait to come together and share their faith through prayers, worship and reading

the scriptures. We live in a country that we are able to meet together in our place of worship without any restrictions. Let us not neglect to meet together …

Heb 10:25. Let us nurture the culture of going to the house of the Lord and not only going, but serve in the House. Let us say with Joshua 24:15b “As for

me and my house we will serve the Lord” I would like to bless you with a few scriptures from a Psalm by the Sons of Korah. Psalm 84: 1 How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty! 2 My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh

Week 1I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his

sufferings, becoming like him in his death, (Phillipians 3:10)

What would you like to change about yourself? Would you like to be more confident or more relaxed? The number one question I have asked is, “Why can’t I change? I want to change - I really do. But I don’t know how. I don’t have the power.”

We don’t change. We read self-help books, yet the problem with self-help books is that they tell us what to do but can’t give us the power to do it. Where do we get the power to change? How do we break out of the mold we’re in? The good news is Christ offers the power we need.

The power occurs fifty seven times in The New Testament. The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and that resurrection power is available to change your life. The most important thing in life is knowing Christ and experiencing the power of His resurrection

The Greek word for power is Dunamis, dynamite derives from this word. The Bible describes resurrection power as the power to cancel our past, the power to conquer our problems and the power to change our personality.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,(Romans 8:1)

First, resurrection power is the power to cancel our past. Cancel means to eliminate, to neutralize, to offset something.God say that it is unnecessary for us to go around with a heavy load of guilt, old hurts, and memories of mistakes.

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.(Colossians 2:13)

Jesus Christ knows the things we have done wrong, but He did not come to rub them in, He came to rub them out. He did not come to condemn us, He came to change us. A clean slate is possible!

No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the LORD. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” (Jer. 31:34)

God chose to forget our wrongs, our mistakes, our failures. That is good news.

Why God can cancel your past. What is the basis of this forgiveness? One of His last statements from the cross was, “It is finished.” (John 19:30). In Greek, tetelestai, literally meaning “paid in full, canceled.” If God forgets a sin the moment we confess it, don’t you think we ought to forget it too? How long do you remember a bill you have paid?

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Phillipians 3:13-14)

The Power To Change Your Life

God’s Power Will Cancel Our Past

Page 3: La Vie Uitgawe 6

I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.(Luke 10:19)

God’s Power is also the power to conquer our problems, everyone has problems. Check your pulse. The only people who don’t have problems are in cemeteries. What do we do with our problems? How do we know when we are trying to solve all our problems with our own strength? We are tired all the time!

God wants us to stop trying and start trusting Him with our problems. I encourage you to take your focus off your problems and focus instead on God’s promises.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.(Rom 8:35-37)

Do you know what a conqueror is? A conqueror is one who overcomes by gaining control. The Greek word declares that we are super conquerors and that we can have overwhelming victory. The same power that enabled Jesus Christ to rise from the dead allows us to rise above our problems.

When the Holy Spirit controls your life, He will produce in you nine positive characteristics. Only one thing will keep you from changing and becoming the person you and God want you to be. It’s procrastination. Procrastination is fatal. We say one of these days I’m going to. More often than not, that day never comes.

Genesis 8

A humorous fact about the events surrounding the Isrealite’s exodus from Egypt concerns the ten plagues God sent on the Egyptians. Each plague mocked a different Egyptian God. For instance the Egyptians worship lice, so God sent them a lot of lice to worship. Then there was the plague of frogs, the Bible says there were frogs everywhere. After pressure and to get rid of the frogs Moses asked Pharaoh, “When do you want me to get rid of the frogs?” Now Pharaoh’s answer was classic. “Tomorrow”, he must have been crazy.

Why would anyone wait any longer to have the frogs removed?

How would you like to spend one more night with the frogs? Why in the world would anyone put off a change that was going to be positive?

You and I do this all the time. We procrastinate by putting off changes that we know will be good for us. Jesus Christ has the power to make changes in your life now, He will give you the power to get started and the power to keep going. He will give you the power to break the chains of procrastination. Relax, trust God.

He is still in the resurrection business. What are you waiting for? Right now you can say, “Jesus Christ, take my life. Take the good, the bad, the ugly. Take every part of me.” Open your heart to His love right now and let His transforming resurrection power become a reality in your life.

"Jack of all trades"

Ons was gereelde kerkgangers in 'n gemeente waar Hannes diaken was.

God is besig

karakter. So in kort.

Here ontvang”.

of kultuur-van-Suid-Afrika? Wie is jy eerste?

gevlieg.

kerk kantoor.

Let's take a look at the verses that follow directly after them:

And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything

against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go),

in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive

you your (own) failings and shortcomings and let them drop.

But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven

forgive your failings and shortcomings. (Mark11:25,26

AMP)

Not being resentful

You may be thinking, what on earth does this scripture

about forgiveness have to do with my problem or mountain

being removed. Well, it's quite simple really.

As already discovered, Mark 11: 22-24 is foundational to

our walk of faith. According to Galatians 5:6, only faith

activated and energized and expressed and working

through love counts for anything. So you can have enough

faith to move your mountains but if that faith is not motivated

and worked out by love, it will have no effect at all.

Now love, God's love is pretty easy to recognize. God has

laid out His definition in 1 Corinthians 13. I find myself

needing to visit this passage of scripture quite regularly to

remind myself how I should be living each day, before

declaring my promises over my circumstances. The power

behind those promises becoming a reality lies in the

condition of my love walk.

Verse 25 and 26 of Mark 11, says that forgiveness is

essential for our faith to work. And Galatians 5:6 says that

without love, our faith counts for nothing. In Paul's letter to

the Corinthians he shows us forgiveness, or not being

resentful (angry), is in fact what love means. So to break it

down: If I want to move my mountain, I need faith. If I want

my faith to work, I need to walk in love. If I don't forgive, I'm

not walking in love and my faith will not work. I think this truth

is clear enough for us to to grasp and understand.

A loving Saviour

Seeing your faith go to work

and moving the mountains in

your life means you are going

to have to deal with the core

issues of your heart first.

There is simply no other way.

The wonderful thruth is that

we have a loving Saviour, Who has promised to stick with us

through the whole process. The Holy Spirit will lead and

guide us through every step of the way, healing our

wounded hearts and purging the bitterness right out of our

souls. We can take the promises of God concerning our

problem and from a heart filled with God's love and powerful

faith, we can speak His word to that mountain and see it

move right out of our lives forever.

Word of Life Ministries is committed to bringing you Bible-based teaching and the Bible's answers and perspectives to your

questions. WoLM (Vol.1 No.3)

Strive for righteousness, faith, love, and peace, together with

2 Tim 2:22 GNB

here is an African proverb that states, "It takes a village to Tmake a child". There is profound truth in that. Some people

think that to develop a faith in God and discipleship to Jesus you

need to separate yourself from all outside contacts and just

concentrate on God. Other people, they assume, are either a

distraction or a problem.

Faith that lasts

Paul made it clear to Timothy that it was the other way round. To

know the righteousness that is God's gift, and to forge a faith, live

in love and create peace, you must have a group of believers of

some sort. You can't develop a faith or build Christian character

in isolation. We might re-phrase the African proverb thus: it takes

a Christian group to build a Christian disciple. Christ knew what

he was doing when he called twelve men to be together with Him

in company with each other. It was in relating to each other that

they grew in faith and in Him.

Other people encourage you. They provide answers for your

questions and put questions to you. You develop responsibility

and caring within the group. You challenge and provoke each

other in a group. And you call each other to account. You

stimulate one another and bring out the best in each other. You

grow in understanding and tolerance. Always take part in a

group.

The full advantage of Mark 11:22-24

And Jesus, replying, said to them, ”Have faith in God

(constantly). Truly I tell you whoever says to this mountain, 'Be

lifted up and thrown into the sea'! And does not doubt at all in his

heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done

for him. For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in

prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you,

and you will (get it)” (AMP)

To begin, we need to recognize that these words recorded in the

gospel of Mark, are foundational to remain in a place of faith. In

fact, this type of mountain-moving or mountain-blasting is

exactly what Jesus operated in when He walked the earth. These

were the type of results He got when He prayed and believed and

spoke God's will. We know that the Bible teaches us to imitate

Jesus and have him as our example and so most believers take

this portion of scripture and begin shouting and declaring

scripture at the 'mountains” in their lives, expecting to see results

like

Jesus did, yet they seldom get the results they desire. Why is

that? Well, I believe that the reason is simply because no matter

how foundational they may be, these verses do not stand by

themselves. Rather, these verses need to be read in context in

order to benefit from the promise they hold.

In Matt 6 verduidelik Jesus self van wanneer ons (I.) bid (ii.)gee (iii.)vas.

eerste paar dae, maar jy sal later sterker as ooit wees)

wandel

verwyt, gulsigheid, skinder ens.

sal vloei.

BEATIFUL NATION!By Tristen Smith

How beautiful is the creationof this beautiful nation.

He made us to serve Him,although we think we don't deserve Him.

He is my all in all,all we got to do is call.

I got to trust;what ever He says is a must.

He is a wonderful Savior,And I know I'm in his favour.

He is my Redeemer, and I will always remember

to serve Him to the end;and go where He send

to spread His wonderful Wordto this great old world.

all about.

Haggai 1:9-10 “You looked for much, but indeed it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?” says the LORD of hosts. “Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house. Therefore the heavens above you withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit.

God questioned Isreal through the last Old Testament prophet, Malachi. He lived within the century of Haggai during the same restoration period. He cried out:

6 “ A son honors his father, And a servant his master. If then I am the Father, Where is My honor? And if I am a Master, Where is My reverence? Says the LORD of hosts To you priests who despise My name. Yet you say, ‘In what way have we despised Your name?’ 7 “ You offer defiled food on My altar, But say, ‘In what way have we defiled You?’ By saying, ‘ The table of the LORD is contemptible.’ 8 And when you offer the blind as a sacrifice, Is it not evil? And when you offer the lame and sick, Is it not evil? Offer it then to your governor! Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you favorably?” Says the LORD of hosts. - Malachi 1:6-8

God asked His people, “You call Me Lord, but where are My honour and reverence?” How was He not respected? He was givensecond-best while the people retained the best for themselves.

God called the people’s actions disrespect and irreverence. In order to help the Isrealites see their error more clearly, God challenged them to offer what you have given Me to your governor(i.e., boss, delegated leadership, far below the level of King of the Universe)! If the majority of us worked for our employer the way we work for God, we’d be fired before the week was out.

Let’s look at the degree of honor we often give to God. We come to church ten minutes late. We sit and watch, never lifting a finger to serve, all the while criticizing the leadership and those who do serve. We keep a constant and suspicious watch over how the money is spent even though we rarely give our own tithe in its entirety. In a rush to eat, we leave before the service is dismissed. We attend only regular services and are frustrated when special meetings are called. If the weather is bad, we stay home to avoid the inconvenience. if it is exeptionally lovely, we stay home to enjoy it. If our favourite program is on TV, we will miss the service to watch it.

How long would this job-performance level last in a place of occupation?

The majority of those who do serve in churches or ministries are over-worked because only a few are willing to give their time toward carrying the tremendous workload involved in ministry. Most come only to receive or to be spectators, never to give or serve. So the poor and needy in the congregation go neglected because those with substance are too busy with their own lives. But when we get down to the bottom line, everyone is busy pursuing their own success and are most critical of the pastor if the needs of the poor are not met.

This sort of behaviour is nothing else than irreverance before the Lord. Most of us today will work long, hard hours to maintain a standard of living. Yet it pains us if the service on Sunday goes a half-hour over the time we believe it should conclude. Prayer meetings are too much effort to attend, and we complain that we don’t have time to feed and clothe the poor.

The truth is that everything is a strain. Many fathers will not even make time for the very families they work so hard to provide for. They push their families aside, saying defensively, “Of course I love you; can’t you see I’m busy providing for you? Now, leave me alone; I’m tired and I don’t have time for you right now!”

God explains their turmoil: “You are looking for much, but indeed you have little; for when you bring it home, I will blow it away. Why?” says the Lord of hosts. “Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house. Therefore the heavens above you withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit. Haggai 1:9-10
