KKK Information

The KKK was not afraid to use violence to get their point across.

Often times burned down the houses of African Americans, and brutally injured people who the Klan disliked.

White costumes worn by the KKK are designed to be outlandish and terrifying.

Costumes consist of robes, masks, and conical hats.

The KKK In the 1920’s

In 1921, the Klan started a modern business system of recruiting clan members. Those clan members would then have to pay for their initiation fee, the Klan’s costumes, and other necessities in the beginning of their clan membership.

Over 6million clan members throughout the decade of the 1920’s.

The more clan members, meant more money for the Klan, which meant more ways to get their opinions and beliefs out into the world.

The Klan Through the 1920’s

The Klan grew rapidly nationwide at a time in the 1920’s where there was tremendous prosperity.

The Klan preached Americanism, racism, anti-Catholicism, anti-Communism, nativism, and anti-Semitism throughout the era.

Violence initiated from the Klan often times took place in the south.

The Klan’s Violence

The Klan would attack at night, in their ghostlike costumes. These costumes were intimidating and frightened many people.

The Klan members wore masks, so that people would not be able to tell who they were.

Some people knew who these criminals were under their masks. The same criminals who were being extremely violent and committing very serious crimes. Accept, many people would not tell the police or any other organizations looking for these criminals, who were under the masks, for fear of their own safety.

The Klan’s Violence

The KKK would attack African Americans, Southern Republicans, along with leaders of churches and community groups.

They used lynching, threatening tactics, the burning of crosses, houses, and other valuable items, to show their hatred towards a specific group of people.

They were very violent, and would do anything to get rid of groups of people who they disliked.

Why I Chose the Ku Klux Klan

The Ku Klux Klan was always something that was interesting to me that took place in the 1920’s.

I never knew how people could be so dumb. To take part of a clan that shows so much hatred and violence towards one of their brothers and sisters of God.

By doing this power point I have learned more about the KKK, but I will never know the real reason for the hatred that these people bestow in themselves, and show in this clan.
