The Klu Klux Klan’s main goal was to keep blacks from pursuing the rights they had gained after the Civil War.

The Klu Klux Klan was motivated to keep African Americans from exercising their newly gained rights.

They wanted to protect “white supremacy” and thought the African Americans would threaten their race.

They also wanted to protect the women and children from the African American militia.
