Upcoming Events:

The Big Event! Saturday, March 31st If you would like to volunteer as a HESA group, we are planning on the morning timeslot 9 am to noon. Please contact me at [email protected] by 9:00 am Friday if you would like me to register you as part of our group. You can also register individually for the all day or afternoon session at www.thebigeventku.com. They have been having some server issues, as they migrate and update the site, so please be patient. There is also a facebook page with more information.

Relay For Life 7:00 pm Friday, April 13th to 7:00 am Saturday, April 14th Team HESA for The Relay for Life-KU http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=team&fr_id=41241&team_id=1055444 .

Just click “Join Our Team”. Relay for Life will take place at the Ambler Student Recreation Center. You do not have to commit to staying the whole time. We will sign up for walking shifts as we need at least one member of our team walking the track at all times. There is a $10 registration fee that does count for the $100 you need to raise to receive a t-shirt and wristband for *food and drinks* during the event. This is a really fun event for us to raise money for the American Cancer Society. I have participated 6 times (4 at KU), so please let me know if you have any questions!

Professional Development Events

A BIG THANKS to everyone who contributed for the “Share the Love” drive for the Lawrence Community Shelter! We were able to gather a large box full of food, snacks, general and personal supplies for the Shelter!

Jake, Kelsey, Travis and I also had an amazing time volunteering for Jubilee Café on Friday, March 17th.

Between the four of us, we: cleaned shelves, set the tables, cooked hash browns and sausage, served drinks, assisted the “waitstaff”, cleaned tables, did dishes and more! It was such a great experience and we can’t wait to do it again!

Another great way to give back (for FREE) by supporting Jubilee Café through Just Food, our Lawrence food pantry. Just Food is the primary food bank serving Douglas County, and it is located right here in Lawrence. The group works to provide food for in-need children and their families. This organization is supporting a bowl painting event at Sunfire Ceramics in Downtown Lawrence. Volunteers can paint the bowls anytime March 28th – April 1st during the store’s hours: Wednesday-Saturday 11:00-8:00 and Sunday 1:00-6:00.
