KORT ná sy geliefde, splinter-nuwe fiets voor sy huis ge-steel is, het dié jong seun seflink optrede gesorg dat ’n

dief binne minute agter tralies beland.

Etienne Oosthuizen (11), gr 5-leerderby die Laerskool Jeffreysbaai, het op 29Oktober omstreeks 15:00 met sy fietsgaan ry, toe hy skielik afgestamp worden sien hoe ’n onbekende man met sykosbare besitting die hasepad kies.

“Hy was skaars by die huis se voor-hekkie uit toe ’n onbekende persoonhom van sy fiets afstamp en daarmeewegry,” vertel sy ouma Ronelle Bezui-denhout. “Die fiets was nog nie eers’n maand oud nie. Ek en sy anderouma het geld bymekaargesit en hetdie fiets vir sy elfde verjaarsdag op 3November gekoop.”

Die voorval het in Goede Hoop-straat, C-Plek in Jeffreysbaai plaas-gevind.

“Etienne het by die huis ingehard-loop en my vertel wat gebeur het. Hyhet dadelik die polisie gaan bel, terwylek die motor uitgetrek het. Danksyverskeie veiligheidsveldtogte by dieskool, ken hy dié noodnommer 10111uit sy kop,” sê Bezuidenhout.

“Met ons aankoms by Jeffreysbaai-polisiekantoor het die beampte aandiens reeds al hul patrollievoertuielaat weet om vir Etienne se fiets uitte kyk.

“Hy was baie geskok en hartseer,maar die mense by die polisiekantoorhet so mooi met hom gepraat, dat hyvir hulle ’n goeie beskrywing van syfiets en die man kon gee. Kol Solani enkonstabels Prinsloo en Sauls het huluitstekend van hul taak gekwyt.”

Volgens Bezuidenhout is ’n ver-dagte binne 10 minuteaangekeer.

“Hy het eers aange-hou dat Etienne diefiets aan hom “ge-leen” het, maar hettog met die waarheidvorendag gekom.

“Ek wil dankie sêaan die skool en in-stansies wat gereeldveldtogte oor veilig-heid hou. Danksy dit,was Etienne goed in-gelig en kon hy diekorrekte inligting aandie polisie gee, al washy maar net 10.”

Die Jeffreysbaai-po-lisie het die voorvalbevestig.

projekte insluit) wat deelgeneem het aan diederde ronde was net 17 suksesvol, en 18 is laatweet dat hulle nie voldoen het aan die kriteriaom deel te neem nie.Daar is dus nog 58 projekte wat wel nog ’n

kans het om goedgekeur te word in volgenderondes.Die departement het ook vandeesweek gesê

hykan teen 20 Novembernog suksesvolle pro-jekte in die huidige ronde aankondig.

DANKSY die flink optrede van die St Francis-baai-polisiekantoor is ’n verdagte vasgetrekkort na hy goedere ter waarde van R15 000 ge-buit het.Siyabonga May (26) is op 11 September tot

12 jaar tronkstraf vir huisroof gevonnis.Volgens lt. Gavin Muller, is hy sewe jaar

tronkstraf opgelê vir die huisroof op 21Augus-tus in Centereneweg, waar hy ’n skoot-rekenaar, twee geheuestokkies en ’n selfoon
