activities are in full swing.
Keizer Chamber of Commerce’s
EDGA (Economic Development
& Government Affairs) has
partnered with Keizertimes and
the Gubser Neighborhood
Association in a collaborative
effort to disseminate election
information on local candidates
and State measures. Keizer
voters will have the opportunity
to hear debates through two
Candidate Forums. Members of
the Keizer Chamber will have
the opportunity to listen and
read about candidates and
measure proponents/
opponents agendas when it
comes to business, jobs, and
the local economy
A Mayoral Debate & Candidate
Forum presented by
Keizertimes will take place at
the Keizer Civic Center on
Tuesday, October 9th at 7:00
pm. Earlier that same day the
Keizer Chamber Luncheon
Forum will host presentations
on the specific Election
Measures identified by a
members survey on their
impact to the business
community. The Luncheon
Forum will also host an Election
Fair of candidate/measure
tables of information. On
October 18th the Gubser
Neighborhood Association will
host a Meet & Greet the

All local, state, and national

KEIZER VOTES 2012 ACTIVITIES
As summer vacation was
coming to an end, the Chamber
August Luncheon Forum
provided an opportunity for
Keizer teachers and school
staff to meet at the
amphitheater for an
appreciation BBQ. The Keizer
Chamber’s Education Sponsor
Fidelity National Title Company
of Oregon has generously
supported the appreciation
BBQ for the last two years. Over
one hundred teachers and staff
were treated to hamburgers,
coleslaw and a bright red
apple.
During the BBQ a special gift
was presented to each of the
Keizer school principals. Each
received a $300 check to
assist students with school
supplies. The donation totaling
$3000 was made possible
through the Keizer Chamber
Foundation from the efforts of
KNOW (Keizer’s Network of
Women), who facilitate a Giving
Basket program. The Giving
Basket program seeks
contributions each year, that
are dedicated to assisting
underserved Keizer kids. One
hundred-twenty-five families
receive food baskets and gifts
each Christmas. The $3000
donation for school supplies
was made possible from these
dedicated funds for Keizer kids
in need.

WILLIAM WALLACE DAYS CELEBRATES KEIZER’S CELTIC
CULTURE
Let the games begin!!!!
McNary Golf Classic will be
the opening event of William
Wallace Days a celebration
of Keizer's Celtic culture.
Why?
Two hundred years ago
William Wallace came to the
shores of the Willamette
River and established a Fur
Trading Post in the Oregon
Territory, 2nd only to Astoria.
Golf originated in Scotland
and McNary Golf Club has
been keeping the game
prevalent in Keizer for fifty
years now . We are the "blue
faced" Celtics as seen at
our McNary High School
sporting event. Celebrate
with the maker of the blue
festival, William Wallace
Days.
Join us on Friday, Oct 12 for
golf. The price is right for fun

Men's, Ladies' or Couples
Division and listen to the

Also in 2011,
Chamber
volunteers and
staff inaugurated
the Jingle Dash
and the
Christmas Trolley bringing
more festivities and good
vibes to Keizer.
The spirit grows with more
activities under the
“Christmas in Keizer”
schedule. A Turkey Dash will
begin the Holiday Season on
the morning of
Thanksgiving. Photos with
Santa at his workshop are
planned to be right here in
Keizer. This will be sure to
please Moms and Dads and
keep dollars spent locally.
The Keizer Chamber is in
the process of seeking a
proclamation from the City
of Keizer that will identify
the many Holiday activities
and events as distinct and
special. “Christmas in
Keizer” like the Keizer Iris
Festival, will celebrate the
unique spirit and feeling of
community under Chamber
promotional guidance .
When organizers of the
numerous Keizer Holiday
events and activities were
assembled, they all agreed
that “Christmas in Keizer” is
full of traditions and is of
growing interest to visitors
and other event
coordinators. The Festival of
Holiday Lights Parade, new
to Keizer in 2011, was
received with welcoming
cheers while Keizer Miracle
of Christmas remains one of
the largest contributors to
the Marion Polk Food Share.
Hanging street decorations
to enhance the shopping in
the area was one of the first
objectives accomplished by
members of the Keizer
Merchant Association now
known as the Keizer
Chamber of Commerce.

Each month decisions are made to support and invest in the Keizer Chamber as a new or renewing member. These decisions
are important. The Keizer Chamber and the community we serve will prosper with each commitment to be involved. Each deci-
sion to support also brings a return on investment to the business or organization. Chamber activities and exposure are valu-
able tools. Please help us thank our August and September renewing and new* members for making this decision.
