Learning Outcomes

BIG PICTURE: EXTREME LIVINGBIG IDEA: THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT

At the conclusion of this lesson children will: • Understand that worship is about our whole life

not just singing.• Learn that worship is an important part of our

Christian lives.• Discover ways that they can worship God everyday.

SUPERNATURAL

KIDS DISCIPLESHIP GROUP (KDG)DOCUMENT PURPOSEUse this KDG outline to prepare an impacting small group time for you and your children.

CONNECT TIMEIf you had to choose one word to describe yourself what would it be? (Give the children some examples)

THE BIG QUESTION (TO DISCUSS IN YOUR KDG’S)

1. Can you worship God even when you are not at church?

Worship is not just about singing songs in church. It’s about our attitude towards God. Our whole life can be worship to God.

2. Why do we worship God?

Invite the children to each say why they love to worship God. We worship God because He deserves to be worshipped. God created us, loves us and cares for us. He is good, He is powerful and He is mighty. We are created to worship Him.

3. How can we worship God every day?

You don’t need a worship team, a band or music to worship God. You can worship Him every day no matter where you are. You might like to spend time praying, drawing, dancing, singing or simply taking moments to thank God for who He is. Worshippers love God with everything they are so everything you do can be worship to God even things like washing dishes, cleaning, painting or dancing!

ACTIVITY SHEETSChildren complete the Activity Sheets in this time.

THE BIG ACTIVITYPurpose: To remind the children that you can worship God with everything you are and everything you do.

Directions: Give each child a clock template and help them to cut out the circle and the two clock hands. Help them to draw on the clock what they do at different times of the day, and talk with them about how they can worship God during those activites.

Explanation: We can worship God with everything we are and everything we do. Worshippers love God all the time and can praise Him all throughout their day.

THE BIG WORD“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Th is is the fi rst and greatest commandment.” Matthew 22:37-38 (NIV)

Say the verse aloud one section at a time, and ask the children to repeat after you. Do this a number of times each time using a different funny voice. For example, say it loud, whispered, in slow motion, low and deep or high and squeaky.

GAMEPotato Relay

Divide your group into two equal teams or play along with another group. Mark out a play area by lining teams up at one end. Set out two chairs at the other end that the children must go around. Children must balance the potato on the spoon and race from the starting line, around the chair and back again without dropping the potato or touching it with their hands. If the potato is dropped the player must return to the starting line. Th e fi rst team to have all their players complete the course is the winner.

PRAYERDear God,

Th ank you for who you are. You are good, you are holy, you are mighty and you are worthy to be praised. Help us to love you more and more every day. Th ank you that we can worship you with every part of our lives.

In Jesus name, Amen.
